Yes, I'm being treated at Beaumont, live in Ferndale. Do you attend any of the support groups they offer?

Hi Sharilou and 3rings...
I am from MI too and being treated at Troy Beaumont, but have an apt. with Jeffery Margolisat at RO Beaumont for a second opinion. Which hospital are you both at ? Do either of you have Dr. Margolis at RO or Dr. Akhtar (my oncologist) at Troy?
My doctor at Troy Beaumont (as I wrote above) is Dr. Akhtar and I really like him. I am considering Zometa and am afraid to take it and afraid not to take it so getting other opinions. Dr. Akhtar has suggested 4 tmts. a year for two years. Another oncologist is against it and a 3rd says 2 times a year for 3 years. I am so confused!!!I am 5 years post menopause.

Hey Georgigirle, I get zometa once a month. There were some side effects the first few times that i got it but none now. It only takes 20 min.so it's very quick. I just set my appointment up for after work, stop at Beaumont on my way home from work.
Sorry for such a late response, i haven't been checking the boards lately. hope you got things worked out with all of those opinions!

I've been going to Dr. Jeff since 2005. 3 bouts of breast cancer. Just finished chemo in dec. for right breast (mastectomy), and low and behold, found mass in neck-POSITIVE,same as breast cancer. I am still with Dr. Jeff, but trying to get into AA for another opinion. How could this shit be? I live in Southfield. Would love to hear from you. Did you see Dr. Margolis? What were your thoughts?

Hi 3rings and Sharalou...
Been away for awhile. Sorry for delay in answering and thank you both for responding. I did switch to Dr. Jeff Margolis because he was able to get the Zometa covered by ins. and Dr. Akhtar could not.
3rings...I had a terrible reaction to Zometa the first time. Stiff neck, flu symptoms, fever and hands swollen double. But, 2nd one went smooth. 2 to go.
Sharalou...So sorry to see c is back. How are you doing? I hope you are feeling good and kicking c's butt. Are you still with Dr. Jeff? What is your treatment plan? I do like DrJeff...he answers my questions very straight forward, but I always feel like he is rushed. Did you go to Ann Arbor for a consult and did they agree with his treatment plan??
