I've not gotten any blood work done yet either.  Kind of surprised at how different all these doctors' protocols are.  I get a CBC and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel every 2 months already for something else, but wondering what else I need.  Apparently the Vid D test has to be specifically ordered with good reason for insurance to cover it, because of its expense.  I will check with my MO (who I won't see for another month) to see what other tests I might need.  I know I'm a bit paranoid but don't want any tests to be overlooked.  I don't even know what "tumor markers" are that you all are mentioning, so if someone can explain I would be grateful. Thanks!

Hey saturn-I get an CEA which is Carcinoembryonic Antigen, Also CA 27.29 and CA 15-3 which are both breast cancer tumor markers. The CEA and the 27.29 I get each time the 15-3 I have only had done right after surgery.  I just had my vit D checked so not sure how often that will happen even though I know he would like for it to get higher so I am guessing the next couple of appts I will continue to have it checked.

Sherry - So sorry to hear about your dad and all you are having to go through.  Sounds like you made a good decision in switching MOs.  This new one sounds wonderful.  I would love to drive up and give you a great big hug and maybe share a glass of wine with you.

they haven't mentioned any of that yet.  I had my lump. first week of December and just finished rads, so I'm assuming the tests will all come, but I am going to ask for sure.  I wish I had your MO (but I do really love mine, she is very knowledgeable).

chabba, nice to know there is someone who appreciates a good scotch as well as a good wine! Laughing  I had a good glass of wine last night (NOT virtual!). My MO says not to drink alcohol because it has been linked to BC/recurrence, but I am not convinced that complete abstinence is a good thing.  Seems like the wine is good for the heart, so I am doing the balancing act! And the scotch is probably necessary for some other good reason - don't remember exactly what that might be right now!

Sherry, I am also sorry to hear of your father's cancer.  My father had end-stage COPD and was on oxygen for years, died 10 years ago.  Still miss him, still honor him, still remember the good times and celebrate his life. Makes me cherish the rest of my family even more.

I also am so appreciative of the women on this discussion board - I have been able to post a few things here and felt as if I am understood and supported without whining to my hubby all the time.  (This may be a marriage-saver!)

I wish I could meet you all and give you hugs.  In any case, I will raise a virtual glass with you tonight, to sharing and friendship!  (BTW, train travel is my absolute favorite, outside of solo road trips in my car! And the dining car and club car are just about the best for meeting new folks!).

Sherry ... I'm so sorry to read that about your father. :((( Also, the others who have lost theirs. I am thankful to have both of mine still, although they have had their share of health issues and continue to.
Bloodwork....I've had so much blood drawn it's no wonder I'd become anemic! ;) But some of the tests I asked for and she did without question. I don't think I get the tumor marker test though.

June - I tell everyone here that I have gone from down right bitchy to down right ornery.  In other words, I am back to my old self.  No doctors appts for 2 1/2 months - so much free time now - I don't know what I am going to do with myself. LOL!

I am doing great these days and hope it stays that way.  June will be an anxious time as I have my first diagnostic mammo since all this crap started.  I am not going to worry about that right now.  I have 36 days until my cruise - but I am not counting.

I am so appreciative of all you ladies - I have said this many times and I will say it many more times.  You ladies ROCK!

Let me think about what is for dinner tonight and I will get back with you later.

Slumber party sounds wonderful.  I have a funny story.  About 15 years ago one of my girlfriends decided that we needed a slumber party and she hired a tarot card reader (very interesting but she did not tell me I would have bc).  Anyway something was wrong with her hot tub and it was scalding hot.  It was cold outside and you could see the steam coming up from it.  Well one of my girlfriends had a little too much to drink and decided to jump in the hot tub nude.  She came out as fast as she went in.  We laughed and laughed about this.  She no longer drinks and we still laugh about it.  It was a sight.

If we have a slumber party, are we going to have a pillow fight?  Please, please.  We could always paint each others toenails.

June she is my character friend.  Keeps me laughing.  Once she was on a Spiritual retreat "Walk to Emmaus" and that morning was suppose to be quiet time before chapel time.  The facility had a community bathroom and she and another friend were in there together brushing their teeth etc.  She made a funny face and looked down and had brushed her teethe with Preparation H.  Needless to say my friends did not keep their quiet time before chapel and we all knew what happened. Maybe I need to write a book on her!Laughing

June - Now I was going to volunteer to paint your toes - fungus or not.  I am not scared of your little piggies.  Bring them on.  You better watch out - they may end up multiple colors.

I will bring the popcorn for the movie.

Sherry - Here is what I came up with for dinner.  Now this is what I call comfort food.
