The commercializition of cancer, referring to the birthday songs and the pink stuff.  I am here.  Now that I am done with rads, I have been catching up on a lot of stuff plus trying to stay ahead of any potential pain and even more belly fat by exercising.  That is working really well because I follow it with a row of shortbread cookies which makes me feel energetic and satisfied for about 20 minutes.

I made up with my friend, so that is good.

I actually am making a cake today, but not the beautiful ones posted yesterday.  It's a gingerbread and molasses wholte wheat cake.  We'll see.

Linda - when is your birthday next week?

    Sorry...Im back again.

When I saw my MO on the 21 of last month he said I don't have to wait to the day of 5 years to stop the Femara. I'M still taking it.

I think it was March 20th 2006 or something like that i started.

I don't know why I'm asking stupid questions.

I guess I'm hoping my middle get smaller after.

LOL - a row of shortbread cookies - now that's my kind of eatin'.

    What's real oatmeal.

    Cake made with whole wheat?

I ate 800 calories worth of GS cookies.  Frack.  Guess I'd better get back on the elliptical.  And I keep wondering why the number on the scale isn't changing?!

Guess what!  I made mashed RED potatoes yesterday - with GARLIC!  Real garlic not garlic powder!  I usually use Idaho potatoes because they are bigger and easier to peel and I usually just use butter and milk in my mashed potatoes.  But my BIL makes them with garlic and other assorted spices and DD likes them.  So I got adventurous yesterday and tried to make fancy potatoes.

You should have seen me. The recipe I got online called for one clove of garlic.  So I'm trying to get the "skin" off the "bulb" (is this correct terminology?) to try to get at one clove.  It seemed so small.  Couldn't be enough.  So I got out 4 or 5.  I decided I might not be chopping the pieces small enough so I dug out my garlic press which I haven't used in 20 yrs and squished it.  Once I got it into the butter the recipe called for to sautee it - it was very garlicky.  Then I decided that might be why the recipe called for only one clove. Smelled good though.  So I used only part of what I sauteed in the potatoes.  I mashed them up and tried them.  Added a little more of my garlic mixture.  Better.  Was tempted to add more, but decided that's why I ruin everything I try to make and stopped while I was ahead.

Are you proud of me?  (I'm so pathetic.)

Yeah- the recipe I had called for whipping cream - which I used.  When I see these recipes I say - that's why I make my simple foods - not as fattening.  Not as tasty, but might be healthier.  The butter I usually use is bad enough.  This recipe called for butter and cream.  I didn't use as much as the recipe called for.   I left the skins on too.  If the garlic makes the kids like the potatoes, then I can get them to eat them with the skin too.  Maybe I'll cut back more on the butter and cream next time.

I didn't mean to cause any trouble.  Dinner looks good, though.  And you'll get some exercise going out to get milk - so it isn't all bad...right?

Diane - I'm glad you're talking to your friend again, too.

    YAY, congratulations to your son.

I love those thin mint GS cookies, I remember going door to door in this very neighborhood I live in now when I was a GS selling cookies.  I have not bought any in 10 yrs because I like them too much.  I would put the thin mints in the freezer and eat them right out of the box.  Delish!

I have white AG and Brussels Sprouts in the fridge that should be cooked up soon before they go bad.

    Make new Friends,

    but keep the old

    for one is silver

    and the other gold.

Sheila, I was dx March 23rd 2007 but didn't start Arimidex until I was done tx.  July 26, 2007.  If I have any left in the bottle after my five years I would finish the prescription.  I get my scripts in 90 day increments.

Deb - I am new to Arimidex, so far, so good. How have you fared, what kind of SE's did you experience and how quickly?

Linda - congrats on your son's gold!

    Blondie - Enjoy those mini-cookies.

Chris - I am getting on the treadmill and will bring the cookies with me.

Meece - I want to go to Napa.

Sheila - Who's gonna get booted tonight?  Can I call you during the show?  :)

My body adjusted to Arimidex.  I didn't have any SE for a good 4 to 6 months, just joint and muscle ache not really bad sometimes I would take Advil.  I climbed Mount Washington 6 months ago and made it to the tippity top.  Then took the train (Cog) down.  It was tough but I did it on Arimidex. LOL

It was me, I kept calling and calling, Sheila:):)

Blondie - I had a disagreement with a dear friend who ended up writing me to say how embarrassed and ashamed he was for being a shitty friend.  All better.  As for Napa, it really is lovely country with wonderful food and wine and fun

Deb - If you can do it, I can do it, right?  Keep your fingers crossed that I can do as well as you have.  How is your dad this week?

Linda -  you mean you were ditched.  And so it begins....bummer I know.

Tonight I made lamb souvlaki with tzatziki and baba ganoush and lots of fruit. And I had my two red desserts with that.  It's called Jack Syrah dessert :)

There you go with that fancy food again.  I can identify much better with the cookies on the treadmill.

Linda - congrats on the gold!  That's awesome -

Sheila - sometimes it's best when we can't go out to get what we really want to eat...What you had was healthier.

I need to get my mouth wired shut!  I ate too much today!  WAY too much !  Double elliptical tomorrow!  (not really, my calves can't take it)

The lamb was marinated in olive oil, garlic, rosemary, lemon, salt and pepper and then I broiled it on skewers because we are having 50 mph winds and I couldn't use the bbq.

I roasted the eggplant in the oven until very soft and then mixed it with tahini, lemon and parsley.  I warmed some pita that I bought at the Mediterranean store.  It wasn't the Japanese or Chinese eggplant, it was the bigger ones, so is that the American version of eggplant?

    Now I want dessert.

Chris - because I am diabetic, I had to learn to cook a lot of Mediterranean foods.  Fortunately, I also happen to like it a lot.  Actually, there isn't a kind of food I don't like and I also love to cook anything, especially something new. I think you over-estimate how difficult this is - marinate and broil - I am sure you have done something similar.  Tomorrow, I will be on the treadmill with cookies on the shelf next to my water. :)

I just don't know how to cook.  DH sometimes complains about restaurant food being too heavily seasoned - so I have to be careful - not enough seasoning, the food is bland and boring - too much seasoning and that's no good either.  And my kids don't like anything.  Soooo I haven't bothered to try to learn how to cook.  I'm just kidding about the fancy food stuff.  But you did use a few words I had never seen before - like you had started speaking another language all of a sudden - souvlaki with tzatziki  - what?  Baba ganoush I've heard of, but don't know what it is. It's like I'm from another planet.  :)

(((((Sheila))))))  My eating is out of control lately.  AND I drink too much soda (diet).  Shouldn't drink any soda.  PLUS I've been having problems with acid reflux again and colas are on the no-no list for acid reflux.  That and chocolate - 2 big no-no's.  I live on soda and chocolate.  I've been taking Prilosec and it isn't working - or not all the way anyway.  And I'm still eating the offending foods.  Guess I'd rather be in pain.    Tomorrow is a new day.
