So I took my first pill last night.  I can tell you I usually have an electric blanket on until I go to sleep, but last night I had to turn the blanket off after an hour of taking the pill.  I slept with just the sheet on me (even though I usually have four blankets over me).  I got up four times, but forced myself to go back to sleep.  This morning, I am still pretty warm - in fact, I was on the verge of sweating just driving to the store.  I guess this is what hot flashes are like?  I just ate something, so I am going to try the pill in the a.m., versus p.m.

Whew!  You ladies move way too fast for me to keep up.

Chevyboy - WOO HOO!  Can you hear me celebrating?  What great news.

Sherry - Glad to hear the rad onc apologized for his shortness.

June, Tink and all the others who joined up last night - what a great time we had.  We should do this again real soon.

Oops! I did not take notes and if I go back I will lose everything I have written.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Hi everyone!! checking in! I am recovering well. Much quicker than BMX. I've been absent from the boards for a few days and from Tamox as well!! Yep, I stopped for surgery on my own. Have been off 12 days and feel great. All symptoms are gone. Not that I had major ones, I didn't thank goodness, just annoying ones. (and the quick brain pains which do concern me though have disappeared as well) Too bad I have to start back. Waiting to hear from the NP in my Onc's office. I couldn't see my onc at my appt last week and so she is going over all of my things with her and getting back with me.

Chevyboy!!! YAYYYYYYYY!!!!! Was so happy to read that you can HEAR!!

Sherry, so glad to hear it looks like your dad only has it in his ribs and maybe the radiation will take care of that. Sorry you were talked to that way. Glad he apologized though. I just think in this profession, especially dealing with cancer, dr's and nurses have to have an exceptional bedside manner. It should be a requirement.

Welcome to all the new T-train riders!! :) We are well fed and never alone and always having fun on this train!  It's fast moving so hold on tight!!

Chevyboy- can you hear me shouting hoooray from Halifax!! WHEEHA!!!

Tink- thanks...it was soooo good to get out of my life, you know?....was able to breathe better, sleep better and not...'fret'....a move may be afoot once the 6 month anniversay mammogram is complete....need to keep thinking on this. I felt much more like ME

slinky - congrats on taking the first step!! hardest one!

Echo- I love your byline..you are right..every day we think we will not get through it....we do....so true

Omaz/Sherry- split it in half...take half in the am and half in the pm. I checked with my doc and she said Fine...and i do not have hot flashes..i wake up 'warm' some ams at around 4am but I am not soaking hte bed wet...just the same kind of heat I have felt for the last 4 or 5 years.

Sherry- so sorry about your dad but relieved on some level that it is one spot and that hey believe radiation will do the trick. Glad your doc. stepped up and apologized...takes a special person to admit when they have been an ass...guess doctor's have bad days too, hmm? Glad it is resolved as he is someone you need to trust is on your side.

Sandee - I don't remember if I told you but my mom was from St John's, Newfoundland.  Isn't that close to you?

Hi Jo - it is a 12 hour ferry ride across the Atlantic....but I have been there and it is gorgeous!!!....Lots of Newfoundland is just ...vast emptiness...rocks....but St. John's is a hub of music, (celtic of course) and bars and friendly people. Makes sense your family would be from a friendly place!

Sandee - I was not aware that the music was celtic.  I do listen to alot of that music, now I know why.  I have seen lots of pictures and it does look gorgeous.  Unfortunately, I have never been there and unless I win a lottery, I don't see me getting there anytime soon.

Other than flying, isn't the ferry the only way to get there?  Isn't is an island with it's own time zone?

Yes...flying is about 2 hours? there are two ferries that go but the closest to St. John's is a 12 hour ride...the overnight means you can get on a bunk and sleep with the waves lulling you to sleep.it is a 1/2 hour behind us in time zones..there very only half hour! Newfoundladers (Newfies) are indeed special!.

Yes, I know.  My mom kept reminding me I am half a newfie.  My dad would get here going when he called her a "cod head."  He was the only one who could get away with it.

Sandee -  I had the fish cakes and hard tack biscuits many years ago.  It was fish every Friday,  corned beef and cabbage (yuck) and pot roast every Sunday.  Sure miss those meals - mom passed away in 1995 and there is no better cooking than mom's.

Chevyboy - That looks exactly like a meal my mom used to make.  That would have been a Sunday meal when she got tired of pot roast.

Enjoy the silence this morning and have a great day,

Sandee - You never know when and where I may show up.  I do know it will be in the summer months - I hate the cold weather.

Hi guys!  Love reading your posts... I have a question:  about periods.... I have been on tamox since November... and have not had a period (I'm also still having herceptin every 3 weeks).... I haven't had a period since june of last year just after I started chemo.  Are periods normal while on tamox, or normal NOT to have them??  I am so confused... is it a sign that I metabolize if I don't get my period, or no?  My doctor won't run the metabolizing test for me even though I have asked 3 times, ugh!  My hot flashes have also pretty much stopped lately.  Thoughts??

    Leanna9:

Mine have lessened dramatically since I started tamox in January. I used to get a very heavy period for 8-9 days, and now it's 4 days max and very light. No complaints!

Leanna9 - My hot flashes have decreased dramatically since starting Tamox.  I can't address the issue with periods.  I have been post menopausal for 3 years.

I tend to do the most posting here and would like to ask a question for those of you wonderful ladies who have been done with active treatments for awhile.  Once the tests are clear and you are just doing the "routine" follow up appts - don't know how else to phrase it - does one ever really stop thinking about BC?  Seems as hard as I try, I can't and I hate that it is happening.  Makes me feel like I am in the nightmare and can't get out.

I am doing really well - sleeping good and back to being pretty active but my mind is still in a spin.  Am I expecting too much after just 6 months?

East Coast - did your surgeon say when you could start up again?  I have right prophy coming up 3/23 and surgeon told me to stop 14 days before surgery, but she didn't say anything about how long after to start again.  I'll have to put that on my Q list.
