    chrissyb - Thanks.  Now that I look at it again, maybe I need to take another picture that is not so dark.  The squares are batiks - first time I have used that fabric.  I will try posting a better picture tommorrow.  I will also do a picture of the backing fabric.

    I haven't used batiks myself, but I've seen quilts done using them.  They are always so vibrant in their color range.  I can't wait to see it completed!

    Thank you.  It sure helps to focus on things other than BC sometimes.

    I asked my GP yesterday, if there would ever be a time that I wouldn't jump at every lump or pain in my breast.  She seems to think that day will come.  I hope so.  Not that I won't be vigilant, but two mammos, two ultrasounds and an MRI this year already is frustrating.

    Working on a little here and a little there.  Something will get don today.  Only one more load of laundry to do and the laundryroom is clean.  Must spend the afternon with Mom, too bad I finished all that crocheting, it would have been a nice laptop project to take.

    Last visit with my DD1 she handed me a plastic bag containing some wool and needles.  When I saw what it was, I laughed as I remember she had bought it about four years ago when she decided she wanted me to teach her how to knit.  The project was going to be a scarf..........the work that was on the needle was about three inches long.................I don't think that is quite long enough.    Guess what my lap project is at the moment girls.......lol.......yes you are right..............I'm finishing the scarf.......lol    She's changed her mind about learning.  Will post a pic when finished.

    I've tried knitting but I used to do it so tight that I had trouble getting the needle under the stitches on the opposite needle! Stressed out anyone????

    barbe - I don't have the patience it takes to knit.  I would rather crochet.

    I had the same problem, barbe.  I don't even own a set of knitting needles now.  I have a tatting shuttle that has never been used, but I might try to teach myself for a nice lap prject for waiting rooms.

    Meece - I used to enjoy tatting until arthritis got too bad for that kind of fine work.  Haven't done it in years.  Taught myself from a book.  Hope you do it.  It is almost a lost art.

    I have lots of knitting needles. I inherited them from my MIL. She tried to teach me once. Couldn't get the hang of it. I like to crochet. I want to start doing the filet crochet again. When doing chemo  I found out that my finger tips were numb and I could no longer do it. I have to start practing.

    Have been out of it for several days--went to beach and then my 'puter acted up.  Today MRI--hoping that is nothing to worry about.  I'm still in the stage of jumping at every little lump and pain.  To Jo--that quilt top is lovely!  I love batiks and the color distribution is great.  Meece, spring cleaning is much less important than quilting.  Chrissyb--post pic of the scarf when done!  Re:  tatting.  I once did some and it took me a year to tat a little doily.  You have to be a nun to do something like that.  Veggy, your filet chrochet is wonderful.  Hope you can start doing it again.  I spent the weekend sewing and didn't finish a thing but had a good time.  Today I'm going to redo a few things that I messed up.  Will post some pictures again soon.  Am knitting fingerless gloves as a waiting room project, but a scarf works better--less fitting and pattern.  I guess spring comes this weekend and that might be a slight incentive to clean out my fabric stash...or not.  Dragon

    I'm so happy to have found you all! There used to be a thread for quilters, but I couldn't find it and here I found you! Beautiful pictures. I'm a painter, quilter, knitter and soon-to-be rug hooker. I love everything equally. Right now I am obsessed with knitting and then felting what I have just knit. My delight in appliqué is ongoing. I am working on a tile quilt. It's the most fun I have had playing with color ever!

    Here's the quilt I made last summer for my grandson's second birthday:

    and here is one of the blocks:

    The quilt was pieced (not paper-pieced though) with some appliqué every now and then, as in the bamboo pieces. (Have I mentioned my love affair with appliqué?) I adapted Margaret Rolfe's paper-pieced blocks to regular piecing.

    Nice to "meet" you and I will go even further back and read more of the beginning pages of this thread.
