    I have already been PMing with Marium, but do not feel my SEs are typical and also I have not been on it long enough to know if it is working yet or not.  Surely someone else on here has some advice or information for her mom.

    I'm sorry I don't have any info for you - I don't have any experience with Gemzar.  I just wanted to say best of luck that it kicks serious cancer butt!  I know it certainly has worked well for many folks.

    A friend of mine at work has been fighting Stage IV (not IBC) breast cancer for 12 years, just went on Gemzar a few months ago, and had some real problems with the SE's.  However, from what I've seen from others, Gemzar for most seems to be one of the milder chemos.  It really just depends on the person - your mom really won't know until she gets started on it.
