New hope as cancer drug developed on Tableland may be fast-tracked
Possible cancer cure found in blushwood shrub
This was on TV last year. I'm holding my breath.
-
As far as I can see a week or so ago ladies, this is only a topical (direct contact) treatment so far. There doesn't seem to be a whole body re vaccine/preventative/chemo type treatment yet although they are close to trialling it on humans.

Just google EBC 46 to get more info.

Thursday, January 20, 2011RESEARCHERS behind a potential cure for cancer being developed on the Tableland hope they may be able to test the drug on diseased patients earlier than expected.
Yungaburra-based pharmaceutical company QBiotics is on track to start human trials in the second half this year of EBC-46, a drug derived from a molecule in the seeds of the rainforest tree blushwood.
The product has so far demonstrated a remarkable ability to treat a range of tumours in more than 200 dogs, cats and horses.
In some cases, deadly tumours in pets disintegrated within five to seven days of treatment.
-
Hi Sheila, (Great name, great country) I didn't see your posts till after I hit Submit.
The Qbiotics site it says it can be used for breast cancer or any cancer where the injection can be guided by imaging, so it seems they inject it into the tumour.
-
Yes Sheila, I'm not too sure about what they can actually inject it into................is it just a tumour or can it be put into bone mets, what about skull mets?
There do seem to be a lot of Sheila's in this country, seems strange to me when it is such a generic term in our culture
though.
Seems like talking to oneself,
Sheila.

The web site says it's not a systemic drug and can't be used for metastasis. Shame. They say head and neck, skin both melanoma and other types, breast and prostate can be treated. They are well ahead with animal testing and this will be released to vets later this year which will certainly boost it's exposure to the public. If people see it used on their cats, dogs and horses they will start demanding it for human use. They have to ensure that the dissolved cancer doesn't get into the blood stream. It helps the area heal up so cancers are gone and healed in two weeks. This is mind boggling.
-
I meant to say, in treating animals the vets will probably push the limits to save people's pets and go beyond the recommended areas. They will then see if it can be used in bone, spine, skull, liver etc.
If I had it in my liver I'd be happy to have them operate if necessary to inject it so I'm sure that will happen when people demand it.
If it's causing the body's own immune system to work then you would think it could be used systematically but I suppose they have to take it one step at a time. I'm just speculating here but I like to have hope.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting this.

Click on the media section, then "Sunday Night, Seven Network" and "Sunrise, Seven Network" to see longer segments.
Sheila, in the Sunday Night segment they mentioned it had been used in animals for different bone cancers. The ABC Radio segment mentions phase1 trials to be used on skin cancers instead of healthy volunteers.
Even though it's not necessarily a cure, surely if any life threatening or debilitating tumours can be dissolved away and healed then we can prolong life indefinitely?

thanks for taking this up and expanding ladies
ya good ol sheilas (hehe Aussie humour, sorry). Yer, it does sound pretty interesting, hoping it comes to something
-
I wonder if it devolves healthy cells too? Can this really be the cure? Would the cancer industry really allow this to be used?
-
I'm using a related plant, a common weed, to get rid of some skin pre-cancers. They've been used successfully on basal and squamous carcinomas, but not for melanomas which require urgent medical attention.

I used to take glucosamine and chondroitin when I believed I had arthritis before mets dx.
Then I read some research which said that it really didn't do much for the condition, so I stopped taking it.
Then our son's dog developed arthritis and, being the good foster parents we are, we now supply the dog with some herbal 'thing' which, it states on the bottle, "may give relief from arthritis."
I went to the vet yesterday to get a refill and she told me that they no longer make that brand for dogs but she has the identical tabs for humans to replace the canine brand.
She then informed me that she has personally been taking the doggy variety for years!
Ten points if you've guessed that the herbal thing is a glucosamine and chondroitin mixture!
Sheila.
