My Name is Diane McAtee and am a member of BCO.  I am not use to using the boards here, but thought it was worth trying for a new friend and her very rare breast cancer.  She has Basaloid breast cancer, she is tripe negative, and BRACA1 positive.  She said she would like to find someone who has that exact dx and is still alive.  She is very worried.  If you have any information about anyone who has that dx and is willing to share with my new friend, please let me know and I will give the information to her...Thank you.

I am not versed in the basaloid breast cancer, but I did find a website that might help.

http://www.ihcworld.com/_newsletter/2005/2005-07_basal-like_breast_ca.pdf  Thank you for your interest and its great to hear you are alive.  I think her fear of the combination of these three factors is the scariest part.

Did you mean "basal type" breast cancer?  There are many of us TN's here - most of us don't know what type we have as it is not standard testing on path reports, but they are finding more and more subsets of Triple negative cancer, some more agressive than others.  Another good site for your friend to post on with her same question would be TNBCfoundation.org, as I know some of the gals there did have testing done and know that they are true basal.  I wish your friend all the best and please, let her know there are scads of us tn's and we are all alive and breathing.

There was a study recently posted here - sorry can't lay my hands on it at the moment - that indicated that basal like tumours respond better to chemo and survival stats were actually better than for non-basal patients. No need to feel despair, although we have all been there and understand completely.
