Where to buy a good-quality wig in Bay Area, CA?
Hi All,
I live in the San Francisco, Bay Area in CA and I was wondering if anybody here knows where I can buy a good-quality and reasonably-priced wig. I visited a Hair Clinic in Concord and I got an $1,800- quote which was way off my budget.
I would appreciate any info. Thank you!

Hi, Lauren ~ I'm not in the Bay Area, so can't give you a specific recommendation. But I thought I'd stop and at least bump your thread (which seems to have slipped through the cracks a bit) for you.
I found my wig at a Merle Norman boutique that had a great wig selection. I don't know if they all carry wigs, but I loved the personal assistance I got choosing a color there, and I was really happy with the Raquel Welch wig I decided on for about $350. The color was actually better than the hair color I'd been doing. I'm guessing $1800 is for a human hair wig -- beautiful, if you can afford one, but hardly necessary (IMO) for the short time involved.
Also... have you checked out the thread here about the Penquin Cold Caps? Some women are actually saving their hair using these. I don't know anything about them -- just that I'd certainly look into them if I was doing chemo today.
Good luck! And good luck with chemo! Deanna

Hi Laureen,
Take a trip on down to San Jose and check out Wig'n Out. I just got my wig there and am happy to be able to recommend this shop. Catherine, the owner, is AWESOME! She is super knowledgeable and has quality wigs for great prices. Lots of inventory, too! I am so glad I found her as she made what could have been a horrible experience, fabulous. I love my wig (really!) and hope you are able to make it down because her shop speaks for itself. Maybe you can even call to see if she can get you what you want for a better price. Good luck to you!

Looks like these posts about good-quality wigs were from some time ago. Just about to start chemo and would like to know if anyone could recommend a few good places for wigs in the Bay Area, CA.
Thank you.

forest,
The Next Step boutique in Los Gatos is great. Lots of post mx supplies to and they take insurance if your carrier covers any of it.
