DCA anyone?
I'm seriously looking into adding DCA to the treatment. Anyone had any experience? I know that anecdotal evidence doesn't give much information to rely on, only want to know whether I'm alone or not.
I asked the onc about this and his answer was: "If the question is could you use this, I'd say yes. But if the question is should you use it, I'd say I don't know."
Thanks!

The research quoted on that site is old unless I missed something. I have a few links for anyone who is interested.

I know this is older than the updates on the U of AB website. Thanks for the CBC links, Sheila.

When a cancer patient's treatment options are running out, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to try anything. To say they may do harm to themselves, defies belief considering that the alternative, to do nothing, would mean certain death. To say, wait till further testing or clinical trials to try it, is cruel when that person may have little time left. It really highlights how arrogant, inclusive and blind mainstream medicine has become. Of all the non-diet treatments I have looked into, and that's a lot, this would be the one I'd be prepared to try myself that seems promising enough to take the risk.
Thank goodness your wife's oncologist is not opposed to this. Best of luck whatever you both decide.

Well said Sheila.

I use DCA. What would you specifically like to know?
-
Where to get it and do you use this on your own or under supervision? Do you use this in conjunction with chemo? How is it going so far?
Thanks!
-
Because you're in Canada, as am I, it wasn't as easy as just ordering it off the internet. I tried that and it was confiscated at the border every time. An MD, however, can order it for you. If ordered through the internet, it comes in powder form and you will have to make your own capsules. I do not use it under medical supervision and therefore, have had some brutal side-effects. It's efficacy depends greatly on exact measures (to the grain), so I suggest if you try it you invest in a microgram scale (available at any head-shop). Gel-caps are available at any health food store. The hard part will be finding an understanding MD whose willing to get it for you.

Sorry, I missed the other questions....I no longer get chemo and it SEEMS to be working. Brain lesions gone, liver lesions reduced, bones stable, lung remains the same. Remains to be seen, though. I've been taking it for a year. Please check into the side-effects first, please, please.....they can be and for me, are harsh.

Thanks a lot, Gracie.
I know a man in Russia who's using DCA and he's ordering it from a pharmacy that is getting the powder from our side of the Globe. He doesn't make pills, just dissolves the powder in his water. He's using that for a year and the results are comparable to yours. He says that dissolving it in a caffeinated green tea enhances the effectiveness.
I will check the SE, undoubtedly.
Thanks again.

I am curious, where is he getting it? The reason I ask, is that I've been getting it for quite some time and there has been occassion where I've gotten just baking soda. You really do have to be vigilant and make sure you're getting the real thing. A chemist can help with that.
Edited to add:....and yes, I have read from numerous sources that any caffeinated tea will make it more effective, along with B6 and B12. Mixing it with liquid though, has been thought to reduce it's efficacy.

I have a friend who is a biologist. She's trying to locate a safe source. I already asked the Russian guy whether he can get the company name from his farmacy. Will update you as soon as he replies.
-
Thanks. I would very much appreciate the info.
-
I hate to butt in, but keep source names to PM's and delete them afterwards. I would think if you want to avoid big brother knocking down the sources door. There's always someone eager to do that in the name of satisfying some regulations.
-
Good advice Timothy....edited my posts and you are so right. My original sources were shut down.
-
You're right, Timothy. I didn't even think about this.
-
When you find out the source, would you please PM me?
-
Of course, I will.
-
Thought it was necessary to remove all evidence of how and where to get it. I hope you got it before I deleted it. Thanks again Timothy, for being such a smart cookie...I can be naive at times.
-
Yes, no problem with that!
