copper + iodine testing?

Options

I've been making a tour of some alternative cancer doctors in NYC, and in addition to tumeric, exercise and healthy eating, there are a few ideas for recurrence prevention that I keep hearing about:

testing copper levels

testing iodine levels

metformin

statins

I know metformin has been discussed a lot here, but some of the others I've heard less about. I know there's an oncologist at Cornell who's studying a drug to lower copper levels in breast cancer patients (stage 2+), something to do with angiogenesis.

Anyone have these tests done? Thoughts? Also, for those who are considering or using metformin, did you undergo any testing of your insulin responses before taking this drug?

Thanks!

CM

I had a hair analysis done, and my copper levels were very, very high. The things my nutritionist has me following are: increased zinc, molybdem (sp?) for pulling the levels of zinc down. Apparently, zinc and molyb help to decrease copper levels, but you have to be careful about supplementing both, as you can throw your system out of whack if you take too much zinc.

I had my copper levels tested...they were high and had a water filtration system put in.  Even if it's overreacting, I didn't want to pause every time I drank a glass of water.   I also am on Metformin...my onc was skeptical, but I don't seem to have any adverse reactions and I couldn't bear the thought of finding out in 5 years, that metformin was a game changer.
