Well, finally had time/made time to get back on and check on everyone...poor Kim.  So sorry your next surgery wasn't the piece of cake mine was :(  Head on over to Hyster Sisters if you need some extra support in that arena....they're like bc.org, but for hysterectomies.  I was there briefly, but I did so well, I didn't stay long.  Many ladies were connecting - as we have done here - but I already had you guys and didn't need (or have time for) another group.....

Yeah, Debbie....I tell ya, if you need a flute-tooter, I'm your girl....I think I hear Italy calling my name....really :)

Two more weeks until spring break, and I am SO ready....except that means it's that much closer to my daughter graduating.  sigh.  She is the sister I never had.....never had a girl cousin, either, so she's so much more than a daughter.  I didn't even get sisters-in-law close to my age, and the one who *is* close to my age, well, let's just say...we wouldn't have chosen to be friends in another life, and it's very stressful when we're in the same city now.  I continually pray about this situation all the time, but so far, nothing has changed ;(

Anyway, just wanted you all to know you are always in my thoughts, prayers, and close to my heart......blessings always.

My goodness, just had a moment to come check in & our thread had slipped to the second page. I suppose that's a very good thing?

That means there's more & more 'month-clubs' filling up the forum. Good news: we're further & further out. Bad news: there's yet more women for whom this beast comes searching.

Hopefully our thread going "quiet" for a few days means that everyone's lives is in a happy phase, movin' on and feeling spring-in-the-air.

Much love to each & every member of the team.

    xx00xx00xx00xx00xx

We're nearing the 100 page milestone. That's saying a whole lot -- right there!!!

    Hello Team!

Well, lets see if we can't bump this thread to page 100!

I hope everyone is doing well...Robin, I read on facebook where your teaching job is in jeopardy and I'm sorry you're going through this.  Sometimes good things come out of bad situations.  I'm actually hoping for that myself.  I took a leap of faith and turned in my 30 day notice to end my employment March 31st.  The stress is killing me girls.  I just need to stop and smell the roses.  Maybe I can I can get a job where I work a couple of nursing shifts a week and can go home at the end of the day and not take it with me.  That's the goal anyway!

It's possible I'll relocate to AZ but for now the plan is to stay home, cook a lot, sell stuff on ebay, golf a bit and enjoy my family until my savings runs out.  lol  I've always been very resourceful so I'm sure things will turn out the way they're supposed to turn out.

So, here's to team January and springtime!
(and to Debbie making 10000 posts!)

    xoxo

    Hi ladies !

Guess where I got to spend the last week !?!?  OSU hospital - fun.  I woke up on Tuesday (1st) with a fever and aches.  I thought maybe I was getting the flu, until I took off my pj top.  My entire right breast was swollen and bright red and purple.  I almost fainted !  I took a quick shower and hopped in my car and was at my PS office when the doors opened.  He took one look and admitted me to the hospital.  Within 3-4 hours, I was so sick/in pain I could hardly move.  By Thursday the pain was gone and the redness looked better, and  I was able to stop all pain meds.  They kept me on the IVs until Friday evening and then released me.  I was home 2 hours and then had to go back and be readmitted.  My insurance company would not cover the drug I needed and it was $1700.00, so I had to go back to be put on the IVs.  I ended up being in the hospital until last night.  What a nightmare.  And, I am on the drug my dr wanted, so the insurance company ended up paying for it anyway, plus an additional 3 day hospital stay.  So today I took my second dose of this stuff, and within a half hour was vomiting and feeling like crap.  I just can't win :(

No, as of now it is still undetermined.  They ran many cultures, but nothing has 'grown'.  They were treating it as if it were a MRSA or similar type infection.  My breast is still discolored (although WAY better) and they say it may take weeks before it goes back to normal :(

Oh poor Sally!  Hospitals are never fun and when you've been through so much already it is almost more frightening when something like that happens.  I'm glad you are on meds though and getting the treatment  you need.  I will keep you in my prayers.

    (((((((((((((((((Sally))))))))))))))))))

For heaven's sake, Sally..... what a chapter of craziness outta the blue.

I so much more like it here when I come in & there's nothing new & outta the ordinary.

What a horrible fright for you.

I will heap prayers on with the rest of the team that this was a one time freak-of-nature and that you are better & better by the moment.

    Goodness gracious.

Kat, that was so sweet of you to notice I'm nearing the 10,000 post point. Is that craziness of what? For me, it was the month of March four years ago that all of this journey began.

I had turned 50 and had gone in for my routine mamo. It was right about this time of the month when I got that first telephone call that would begin the journey in earnest.

Isn't it true how we 'know' these dates of our own adventures. This time last year for our Regina having her expander removed...... and on & on it goes.

I have several things to "report."

The national publishing company that is to release a book of 200 pages worth of dance & movement ideas to my music is rolling that project off the presses this month!!!!

This project has been "cooking" in the slowest-crockpot on earth for the entire 4 years of my BC journey and drum-roll, it's to be released by the end of the month!!!!

I had kinda forgotten about it & went to their website and there it was! The first that I had seen the packaging for the CDs of 'my' stuff!!!

    2. Europe is a month from tomorrow.

    3. Today I walked at an average pace of 4.2 miles for an ENTIRE 60 minutes on the treadmill. SIXTY minutes!!! This is quite a feat for me. This time last year I was strolling for 20-30 minutes at the pace of a snail.

Moral to the story, keep working at it, team.

Today is the birthday of my dear friend "Saint" and I did it for her. In her honor. On her wings. It does amaze me -- all that I have been graced to do in the four years since being inititally diagnosed. More amazing still is what has transpired in the past 12 months since saying goodby to my buddy.

Gals. We must fight on. We must make decisions to cut the stress from our lives, cut the fat from our lives, find the happiness in our lives, make the great choices & decisions that make this life one to be remembered & relished.

As we all know. Things can change on a dime.

CELEBRATE any & all of the joy you can muster.

Hugs and prayers for all in need.

    xx00xx00xx00xx

    Strength and courage.

    Strength and courage.

    Strength and courage.

Sighing.............. I guess the truth of the matter is that we are indeed never 'out-of-the-woods' once this BC nonsense has entered our lives. The question then is, what do we do with our lives once we realize that?

    Hi Everyone

I haven't been on for quite a while, but happy to say it's because I am busy trying to be normal. You know, working, taking kids here there any everywhere, dentist appts, grocery shopping all that kind of normal stuff.  It is these kind of normal things that now has a totally different meaning and feel to it.

Sally my heart skipped a beat when I read about your infection.  Oh my goodness, how strange for this to happen just out of the blue.  Thank heavens it is on the mend.

I am taking my kids to Cuba next week, so we are all pretty excited.

Thinking of all of you "Team January"

    wow...cuba!  That's some spring break :)

Sally!!!!  Girl...you didn't have to try to out-do us, girlie....just kidding!!  Soooo glad you're better, but sooooo sorry you had to go through it...argh.

Don't you wonder if things will EVER settle down and get back to normal....whatever THAT is?!?!?

I just feel like the last two years, for me, have been an unending roller coaster....if it's not one thing, it's another....it's certainly my "storm".  I know God is seeing me through it, as that is the ONLY way I could ever handle all of it....it seems as if life goes through these seasons of storms.  I can look back over my 51, almost 52 years (of the years I remember, anyway), and see how there were seasons lasting several years where *so* many things happened....but God would be at my side, and many times carrying me.  I may not have realized it at the time, but when it finally eased up, I came out stronger, and had a testimony and a story to share.

You know, when silver goes through the furnace, it gets incredibly hot....when it's polished, it reflects the image of its maker....I hope that as I go through my fire, my storm, that I come out reflecting *my* Maker even more.

Yes, Kat, you're right...my job is on the line, and likely I will receive my RIF pink slip tomorrow.  The school system for which I work has voted to eliminate ALL the elementary music, art, and PE teachers from the system.  I am an elementary music teacher.  I only teach two days a week, but we are totally dependent upon that income.  I receive no benefits, just income.  It's going to create a giant mess in our system.  In fact, they have slated to lay off 69 of our 650 teachers.  I've been in the system for seven years, but this was just my 6th contract year....where I was going to be made permanent status.  Of course, it wouldn't have mattered, but it would be nice to not have to worry about some things.  I had "retired" for 13 years and had been home full-time, giving piano and flute lessons from home.  Guess I'll be hanging out the shingle looking for students, as I'll have to go back to that again....

Rachel's cap and gown came today.  I cried.  She is ready to be done with some of her academics, but is not ready to leave home for college.  She says she loves her family, and her home, and isn't anxious to leave as so many other kids are.  I'm so proud of her - she won two scholarships a couple of weeks ago.  One was $2000 (and hopefully will be matched by the college)....she will be awarded this in Indianapolis in May.  I'll send you guys the website link when it's officially announced online.  She also won a $500 Right to Life scholarship for all her volunteer efforts in that area.  In addition, she won an essay contest with them, and they liked her essay so well, they asked to publish it on the Southern Indiana Right to Life website :)

Spring break is next week...isn't that nice of my school system to give us our RIF letters right before spring break?  ha....

This fall will be the THIRD fall in a row I will be doing a new job....IF I even *get* a job for this fall.  I honestly don't know if I have the energy or stamina to do this.  To get in a new environment again, to have to learn new routines again, to do everything you have to do ALL over again (two years ago, I was moved from middle school music to elementary FOUR weeks before school started...and then three months later found out I had BC....they assigned me to three different schools., then this year, of course I started school with the broken ankle and cast, and was at another school for two days...)

As an update on my SIL.....she began her radiation this week....had just a lumpectomy.  Well, I guess I shouldn't say it THAT way, just a *just*, but you know what I mean....

Thanks for letting me vent a little...and catch you guys up on things here in the Ohio Valley, where the river is flooded.....Debbie is supposed to be coming down here our way, so Gina and I may actually get to see her/meet her in person!!  yippeeWink

You ALL are always in my thoughts and prayers...blessings..

Sally, after reading about your infection and your stay in the hospital, I got to thinking about it, I actually woke up in the middle of the night with this thought...  You talked about having the problems with your teeth (something to be biopsied?) I can't remember exactly and am too lazy to go back and find it...  Anyway, I remember someone from another thread that suddenly had a horrible infection in foob... she ended up losing her implant even....  after trying a lot of things they ended up finding an infection in her mouth that had been causing the whole problem.  Once they finally got that cleared up, they were able to get the other infection cleared up.  I don't know if this is the same as your case but felt that I should at least mention it to you, something to look into.

I hope that everyone is doing well, as can be expected...  sorry about your job Robin, it is sad for you and for the kids that they are taking the music away from.

Kat, you go girl!  I'm really happy that you are taking that step to remove the stress from your life.

Debbie, sounds like you have more amazing things happening to you.  You are an inspiration!

Have a great day Team January!

Robin:  You are in my thoughts and prayers as you face a new un-asked for work adventure.  I know how difficult change is and how important every dollar into a household budget can be.  Especially when you have a lot of medical expenses like we all do.  I can also relate to the daughter graduating.  Mine graduated high school 10 years ago.  She got married during college (away from home) to someone from church that she grew up with.  Then they left and moved several states away for him to attend seminary.  Now they live one state away and about 3 1/2 hours (in good weather).  I can tell  you that you will adjust.  You can stay in touch.  It just takes time for that adjustment.  Hang in there.

Sally, I hope you are doing ok.

faithie:  you are one amazing person!  That is all I have to say.  I think we all agree on that.

    Happy Friday!!!!

Today's our 17th wedding anniversary and also my 4th year cancerversary of my first cancer. It's a great day to celebrate being alive and thriving!!! The FL sunshine is delightful in it's monotony and we are headed off to a new destination -- in search of their Plein Air Painting Festival (outdoor) with 60 artists at work before your very eyes!!

My choice. Can ya tell? He's a good sport.

Just wanted everyone to know that I'm holding ya in my heart -- now & always, especially during this reflective celebration of what four years means to me.

Thanks for the votes, girls :)

Gina and I, along with our daughters, did a little shopping Friday - just in case we both get enough votes to be in the Oaks Day Survivors' Parade.....if you know anything about the Oaks and Derby, HATS are the thing.  I haven't worn a hat like that since Easter when I was a little girl.....we all tried on hats, being so silly....I felt like such a dufus!!!  Anyway, for the Oaks, it's a "pink out" day, and of course, anyone in the parade is supposed to wear pink.  Well, I did end up buying a hat - just in case.  But IF I would happen to get enough votes, and IF I would be brave enough to wear and hat, I wouldn't wear it again anyway...so I'm thinking I'm gonna take it back.

Voting is only through this Wednesday....SO glad it's not a long, drawn-out thing!!!!

     Congrats, Debbie on both accounts!!!

Hope all J-team 2010 are doing ok.....

just got done with our spring break...started the week with 70's weather, and ended with snow!  Ha...what a week!!!  Eight more weeks (I think) of teaching elementary music....not sure what will happen to me after that.  I did not get a RIF notice...guessing because I have other certification, but I can't go full-time yet.  So, now I'm applying to teach at a community college...just wish I could do the same thing for more than a year at a time!!  Anybody else looking for BORING right now?!?!?!

     ha!!

blessings and love and prayers to allKiss

    Hi Team.

Hope all is well!  Still working working working...hoping to wind down soon.  I'm going to work behind the scenes a little and then maybe go in towards the end of the month and train the new person (or not) we'll see.

I am happy to report though that I've changed oncologists!  Whoohoo!  I love the new one AND she draws tumor markers.  I had tumor markers CA 27-29 drawn and my score was 20.4.  0 is ideal of course but anything less than 45 with someone who had stage 2b breast cancer is considered normal...so yippee!  She will draw them every 6 months for probably forever.  I'm just so happy that I don't have to worry about every little swollen node!  I read somewhere someone saying "having breast cancer is like having a run in with the mafia...you live...but are forever looking over your shoulder."  That's kind of how I've been feeling here lately...so overwhelmed. Just being able to say 'had' breast cancer is a huge improvement.

I'm going to be attending an all day breast cancer retreat at our wild life park center next month so I'm excited about that.  It's called 'find your inner superhero' and it focuses on dealing with depression, acceptance, increasing libido (that damn tamoxifen!) and other things like yoga and massages.  I'm hoping for a good day!

Hey Gina...how are your colonoscopy results?  I voted for you and Robin...hope you pink pals win!  Safe travels Debbie!  Paula...loving your new profile pic!  Hope everyone is safe and doing well.  I miss us!

    Love to all!
