Block Center For Integrative Cancer treatment

Options

Has anyone been treated here? I've been doing a lot of research into nutrition and supplements, in addition to standard care, and I read the book written by the guy who started this place. I love that they focus on more than just conventional treatments. Just curious if anyone else has any info. I'm seriously considering going in for a consult.

Jen, there are women on BCO who have been to the Block Center.  If they don't happen to see this thread, you might want to try a search (to upper right) for the Block Center.   I've also read Keith Block's book, Life After Cancer, and I'm under the impression that the Block Center is ranked #2 in the world (behind one in Germany) for integrative care.  From what I've heard, it's really top notch.    Deanna

    Deanna,

Do you know who does the ranking and what their criteria are? The German clinics can use much more advanced treatments than Dr. Block would be able to use in the US. So I don't understand how they could be in the same category.

Dr. Block has compiled some excellent research showing patients using supplements during chemo do much better. Maybe someone can find it? It scientifically puts to rest the old wive's tale about not taking any supplements during treatment.

mathteacher ~ Sorry, I don't know.  Someone here recently shared that #2 stat, and when I asked who was #1, her response was a clinic in Germany.

Keith Block spoke earlier this month @ UCLA's Insights Into Cancer series.  I didn't go, but a video of his presentation should be on-line soon, if you or anyone else is interested.  He may have talked about the supplements issue.

I definitely see your point about the difficulty comparing US & European facilities.  Perhaps whoever shared the ranking will see this thread and can tell us more.   Deanna

I am almost finished with his book.  I have found it very informative and positive.  Wish I lived closer.
