I'm just following up with my Med Onc.  After my BS took out my port she said I see enough doctors and she felt I was being followed up very well without having to see her also.

I only saw my BS once after surgery, but she said I can come see here anytime I want.  so will probably keep some kind of contact for awhile.  Just finished rads and have a mammo an follow up in april then he will release me to my MO.  My MO will oversee my care and I will have yearly mammo and MRI alternating every six month. I will have to see my MO every three months for 2 years then every 6 months up to 5 years then yearly after that.

That's what I thought.  After I see my BS in March, I'm done with him.  (Unless a miracle occurs and he offers to remove the seven unwanted surgical clips left behind in my body.  Fat chance on that.  Any doctor can use those clips instead of sutures, but in his case he probably adopted them when he went over to Afghanistan to do military doctoring and needed to work QUICK.  I'm sure the least worry a soldier has is whether a few titanium clips were left behind.)

After that I'll just have MO doing bloodwork & groping, the mammos, and my GYN doc also doing an annual groping.  Plus, I'll continue to do BSE, since I was so good at finding the lump the first time.  I think that is enough.  Less doctors equals more normal...sounds good!

Good.  Not too long of a wait.  I'm praying for you and here for you as you go through your treatment.  PM anytime!

I keep dropping doctors.  I'm so glad.  I dropped my rad onc in January.  I'm hoping to decrease visits to my cardiologist after my MUGA scan today (seeing him once a year would be great).  I have a couple other specialists that I am down to seeing once a year.  I had a few more than others because I have LUPUS (which is in remission along with the BC).   My body has been hit hard but it is a kick butt body because I've been able to fight these diseases.

Eli - I'm just 2 months out of treatment, so for now at least I'm happy to see my docs as much as they want. I have a lot more confidence in their breast examination than I do the mammograms. I found my lump, too, and I'm supposed to go be smashed for the first time since my surgery, chemo and rads in April. I managed to whine my way out of the really intense mammo last year (can't remember what that nightmare is called, I've blocked it) and got away with just an U/S. I REALLY don't want to smash all this tender breast tissue now.....maybe I can whine my way out of this one. I just can't believe - after all the money that's been raised for BC - that there's not a better way. Can you imagine if men had to do this? "Okay, sir, just place your scrotum right between these two pieces of glass, it won't hurt a bit. Now just a little tighter, and a little more, and a little more, one more time...."

Joni, I think that wine did help quite a bit!

I have to confess a mean mom thing.  When my adult sons were about to turn 13 or 14 I told them that on their next birthday we'd schedule their physical exam for sports but that because they turned this age they needed to also have a penogram.  Of course, being the innocent little boys they were Wink they asked what that was sooo, while giving the following verbal description, they also got the visual with my hands.  First I told them that women had to have their breasts smushed to of course males had to have their penis smushed.  So they would have to go in a room, undress and put their penis on a cold metal table and then "SMASH" it would come down and take a picture of their penis.  I told them this story 10 years apart (cause that's how far apart they are) and BOTH of them rolled on the floor in pain just thinking about it.  I let them believe this for a couple of weeks and then after they were worried to death I'd tell them I made it up.

I was a truely cruel mother but they both still love me, talk to me and are responsible adults so I guess it wasn't too bad.  BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good Grief!  You ladies have been busy this morning.  I am going to try and catch up.

My MO is in charge of all my care.  I am still seeing my BS for some pain issues but once that this taken care of, I am out of there.  He is amazing and wonderful but I see enough doctors now as it is.

Can't wait to head out to Galveston and on the ship.

Lynn- Crossing fingers for B9 resutls on your tests.

Suzwes - That is mean but really funny.

I've been telling my DD for years that when she goes to college I'm packing up lock, stock & barrel & going to whatever city she does.  I've been kidding, but it came to my attention this week that she believes it (I'm keeping quiet for now).  I'm sure I'll get the "mean" label when the truth outs itself!

I truly believe it's best to keep these kids on their toes.  Good for you Joni!  My DIL keeps telling my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter that they will be roomies when she's in college.  Of course the 2 1/2 year old is thrilled now but I can't wait until she'd 16 or 17 and her mom says that!

HnS76, It does hurt a little when you get your first follow-up mammo.  Good idea to take some pre-emptive Tylenol.  For me, this time (1 1/2 years out,) the mammo felt no different thatn it used to back before B/C, which I only thought was slightly uncomfortable all these years.

Suzwes,  You are a naughty little mom!  Keep up the good work!

Ok - I told y'all that my biopsy last week was benign but when I saw the doctor he said he didn't get a good sample because the lump was so hard and he wants to remove it.  Soooo - surgery on March 14th.  He feels that it is fat necrosis but wants to be sure before I start reconstruction - love him for that!
