Ladies, I am wanting to put together a team for the Race for the Cure 3.1 miler. Perhaps someone is already doing this but if not, I would welcome everyone...
-
I just got my deportation date as well ... I finish Herceptin on February 23 and get my port out on February 25. Yippiee!! I'm having a party!
-
Well deserving Brenda !!!
-
Hi Ladies, Just thought i would chime in here too. I finished chemo Jan. 13th (yay), port is coming out Feb.4th, then 6 weeks of rads and i am DONE! ok not really, have to take some kind of AL's for 5 years, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. It has been a long year. Congrats Frosty and V!!! Here's to a cancer free life for all of us!!!!

Hi ladies,
I always think it is good news when the site is quiet. It means we are all busy with our regular lives. Congrats to Pumela and Frosty on making it through. RainCityGirl-good luck with the race for the cure team building. I'm sorry I won't be able to join you.
Hope everyone else is doing well.
-
WOW! Lots to celebrate on here! Pam and Frosty - congratulations!!!! Raincitygirl - I think we may have a Bainbridge team, but will let you know AND look forward to meeting you either there or if we get together earlier. Susan - congrats to you on your low oncotype score!
Yes, life is busy so I guess that's good!
Have a great weekend!
-
I'm walking with my Sunday walking group who were the ladies that helped keep me sane week after week during this whole process .... But I hope I see (and recognize!) some of you ladies there!
Anybody know how the other woman is doing that was just diagnosed (like me) when we met at Red Robin last November? -
I think that was Jordan (am I right?) and she is doing fine. She is doing A/C plus taxol, so not finished with chemo yet. Madge24 saw her a couple of weeks ago, and if I remember she was 1/2 way thru at that time.
-
aprilgirl - went to bainbridge this weekend to have dinner at a friend's restaurant in winslow - accidentally got on the bremerton ferry so added 2 hours to our trip. Oh well!
Hope to see everyone soon.
-
Yeah.. Jordan sounds right.
... glad to hear she is doing fine. Hopefully we all can meet up soon.
-
I am off to the Team Survivor NW Retreat this weekend at Fort Worden. A couple of speakers, lots of exercise, and time for knitting! I have enjoyed this group a lot -- they got me walking for the 1/2 marathon -- and I'm looking forward to kick starting my exercise this year.
Hope to see all of you soon ...
-
Right-On Brenda .... enjoy !!!
Been movin' and shakin' in all the right places here in Poulsbo (well a tad bit of stress, but that's another story). Still attend some Reconstruction Support Group meetings at Virginia Mason (once a month), as well I have signed up to be part of the Crew at the Seattle 3 Day/60 Miler this September and better yet have decided to walk the event in San Diego this November. Anyone care to join in on the fun ????? Tracy I see your gearing up for year three ..... kudos !
Looks like I am going to be heading up a small group for the Race for the Cure (June 5th) at my worksite. Not necessarily what I had envisioned, yet when the call came to me from upper management, seemed most appropriate to take the bull by the horns. I'm meeting with one of the branch heads on Monday ,,,, does she know she's dealing with a truck driver ??????
Verene, you are in my thoughts often .... I'm hyped for your upcoming surgery, it's definitely a huge step in a great direction ! I plan on attending the mtg at VM on the 15th .... will be over that day to get my tattoo .... whoooohoooo! I can definitely say looking in the mirror is amazing (in regards to Drs Paige and Beshlian work) simply amazing.
Any thoughts on getting together with our Crazy Seattle Gals in the near future ???
My BI peeps ......local dinner soon ?????
-
I am jonesing for snow, but need to keep it on the QT as my Eastern friends have had more than enough. But haven't been skiing in a month and getting antsy. Cycling isn't the same, although I have signed up for the STP.
Otherwise, busier than busy with work. Was worried about "playing with half a deck" and then discovered that the "half deck" was because my client and I didn't have all the information we needed. So not the right frame for evaluating research results.
Next week is my birthday and celebrating in style. Missed doing anything fun last year, so time to make up for it.
So whenever....... So thrilled to be back in my life again. Hoping everyone is doing just fab. - Claire

Does anyone know a good PS in the area?
-
Drew Welk at the Polyclinic did my tissue expanders and implants 1 1/2 years ago. I couldn't be more pleased. He has a great reputation and he and his staff nurse work together very closely and have for years - lots of experience. He is more than happy to show you photos of his work - he is very proud of the results!
-
Dbug79---Love this screen name by the way...Dbug is what we sometimes call my daughter. I used Dr. Wandra Miles at Swedish. She is a survivor herself and she was fabulous.
-
Dbug .... I could not have been more pleased with the "work" of Dr's. Paige and Beshlian at Virginia Mason. They specialize in the DIEP procedure (often used after radiation). FYI .... VM offer a reconstruction support group meeting every 3rd Tuesday of the month, as well I believe that the Polyclinic also offers support meetings. I've been to both and they offer a wealth of information.
-
Happy Valentine's Day to all my Seattle friends!
We will have to plan our quarterly dinner soon ... hard to believe that much time has gone by already.
-
Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
-
Thank you for the advice, I will be having surgery soon after my last treatment on March 25th and want to be as prepared as possible. Do you ladies get together often? I am far from home here in Washington with very few family and friends and I would love to meet some great new women. Especially that understand what I am going through. Not to mention that my husband thinks it would be good for me...bless his heart.
-
We try to meet at least quarterly for dinner ... but if you need anything, just holler!
-
Dbug, I haven't attended any of the soirees yet, but I do live three blocks from Swedish. You're welcome to drop in for a cuppa' when you're in the neighborhood!

Hi ladies,
It looks like a dinner is in our future! Let me look at my calendar and suggest some dates in March for us.
In the meantime, I'm wondering if I can ask a favor of my favorite Crazy, Sexy Cancer in Seattle ladies that will take 5 seconds of your life. I am part of a Susan G. Komen 3 day walk team hoping to raise 250,000 this year for Breast Cancer. My team submitted a video for a contest that will award the winner 5000.00 for the charity of their choice. The winner is determined by the amount of votes they receive from now until March 2nd. I would really appreciate your help if you could go here http://www.veritymom.com/cartwheel-for-a-cause/ and vote for Video number 3. Thank you!
Hope to see you all in March. Be careful of the snow out there!
Tracy

Seems like you ladies on the west side are dealing with snow this morning?
-
I voted!
Looking forward to getting together in March!
-
I just voted too. I am so psyched to have fresh snow. The skiing should be amazing this coming weekend as opposed to being icy around the edges. Cycling can wait. Have done way too much of that this winter when skiing was icy/rainy.
Looking forward to our dinner. - Claire
-
Hi, Just got done voting. No snow at my house yet
thought i might be able to stay home from work, oh well. Would love to see everyone again for dinner. Keep me posted. Have a great day everyone!!!
Pam

Just voted.
If we decide to make our quarterly meetup towards the end of March I could probably make it. Having bilat Diep on 03/02. So excited and a little bit nervous.
Dbug-if you want to meet for coffee somewhere in the Renton Highlands, I could probably swing it if it is between now and Sunday.
We woke up to snow and just love it! I hope we get some more....
Take Care all,
Verene
