what are the signs of liver mets?  I have been diagnosed with a fatty liver before my bc diagnoses. Have liver pain sometimes and have been having diarrea a lot and am 2 months out from chemo. I sometimes also have loss of appetite...

    I don't really know the signs of liver mets, but I can share somewhat with you.  I too have been told I have a fatty liver and had that before bc.  Also liver slightly enlarged.  My alt was going up a little so I had an ultrasound which showed the fatty liver and sludge in my gall bladder..............should I be insulted? Embarassed   No lesions were detected.  I would first check your liver enzyme scores, your ALT and AST.  They would probably be way out of whack if something was going on.  If there is a question, get an ultrasound.  At least this is a place to start.  Let us know what you find out.  Maybe someone out there has more specific info on liver mets.  If so, I am sure they will be along to comment.  Wishing you the best..................Caren

    Hi Rae,

    Sometimes liver mets can show up with no side effects -- that's how I started.  Some of the indicators are twinges in your liver; feeling of fullness, like you're wearing a too tight belt; swollen liver; protruding, hard abdomen; elevated liver enzymes (ALT, ASP, etc); consistent lack of appetite. 

    Oftentimes gall bladder problems are mistaken for liver problems.  When I had my gall bladder out, before it was diagnosed I had diarrhea a lot and very sharp pains.

    You should give your onc a call and let him/her know.  A CT scan can quickly diagnose what's wrong.  And, assume it's nothing bad until told otherwise.  Good luck,
