I walked 5 miles today, I hope that gets rid of the donut. It was really good though!!!
-
Five miles Diane, way to go.....I am jealous. I on the other hand cannot work out as I must have done something when I went to the gym the other day as yesterday I was a little sore and today my joint where my leg meets (socket) is so painful especially when I do stairs that I stop dead in my tracks.....ouch! I hope this passes soon as I am so not looking forward to missing any exercise and so far this is day 2 of doing nothing.....
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
-
Did the 45 elliptical last night - today is 30 minutes weight training, and then shopping, because we got a Kohl's 30% off coupon. That will be like a work out in itself, ha!!!
Diane, I'd say that doughnut is hostory with the 5 miles!!!

I am so bad! Haven't been exercising very much lately. My Mother in law broke her ankle last week, and she had surgery on Friday. She has been staying with us for a week now, and I am starting to lose it a little bit.
It is starting to cool off again, so I will probably have to do the elliptical tomorrow. I hope my dh will post it on the WATTS for sale newspaper that comes with our electric bill. He said we could get a treadmill, which I would like better.....I wish I could do 45 minutes on that dreadful torture machine, but so far, I have only been able to do 30 minutes....

oh, also, I have been suddenly getting more involved with Reach to Recovery, and I will probably be giving speeches at churches, for womens groups.
I even met another survivor sister today, who wants to start a non-profit business to help people move on, after the cancer is gone... it will combine the Western and Eastern Wellness ....
I can't think how to put this... it will include saunas, massage, acupuncture, yoga, ... etc...
I am excited about it!

Sounds great Harley!
I did my 30 minutes of weight training at the gym and then went to Kohl's and got 4 bras, 2 jeans and sneakers! Saved tons of money with my 30% off coupon, or at least I am led to believe this! ha!
-
Harley, hang in there with your mil....exercise would help your "feel good" chemicals flow! And 30 on the elliptical is nothing to sneeze at! I don't think I could do more than 20! I like a treadmill much better too....I think the elliptical is too big for me, like the foot thingys are too far apart for my petite frame. I think if I used it too much, I would start to hurt my knees or my hips. Does that machine feel totally awkward to anyone else? Or is that just part of its torturous charm?
My pilates class is going really well! I have noticed a steady strengthening, in that I can do more and more each class without quitting, which feels great! And today I am seeing a difference in the mirror!! (although not on the scale) Granted, my menstrual bloatedness is waning right now, so everything feels so much better! I like to think of it as "the tide is going out"! I think it might be one of the bitterest of all ironies that when we finally stop menstruating that the tide stays IN instead of staying OUT! Awwww well, I will cross that bridge when I get there :-)
Good for you VickiSam...you can totally do it!!
Springtime, you're my hero!
-
Suzanne3131,
Thanks for the encouragement! I'm getting ready to get on that Terrible Torture Machine!
I agre, it IS awkward and I am clumsy on it.
Hope everyone is having a great day!!

I love my elliptical, it doesn't hurt my knees.
Today is 90 yoga and 30 weight training before yoga!
Suzanne, great on the Pilates class! Don't you love it when you can see results in the mirror!!
Spring.
-
Spring,
That Elliptical Machine hurts my knees!!
I did 40 minutes on it today, at 40mph. not too shabby, I guess.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used elliptical machine??

Joy, happy to hear the cyber thoughts helped
Harley, yes, it was embaressing the time my brother called and I said I have to get off the phone now its close to my bedtime, said what are you doing now, and he replied he was dropping my little nephew off for soccer practice. I was going to bed and my 8 yo nephew starting practice. So, yes, bedtimes were already early but since BC have gotten even earlier
I'm short so the elliptical has always felt awkward to me. Since my therapist has had me doing it forward and back without hands to work on my balance for the neuropathy its been easier. Even when I got back to using my arms it seems easier
-
Harley oh no.....what happened? I use the elliptical once a week when I can get to the gym and years ago I could only stay on for 10 minutes, but I have now made it to 30 minutes and I love the different muscles it uses than the treadmill.....hang in there Harley! I am still trying to recover from injuring myself at the gym last Saturday. Last nite I went outside (where I belong) and did a 2 mile walk, not huge, but better than nothing at all....baby steps.....
-
I think I am going to just give up on the elliptical... it's TOO hard for me.
Things are getting so STRESSFUL here. My dh's Mom broke her ankle and she is staying with us. I am starting to lose it, I think....
Hope everyone has a great day!

I did 45 on the elliptical today, and it was a REALLY bad day but I did not skip it (Layoffs at work, I am not layed off by my best friend co-worker is so it is a terrible day!! sad sad sad. )
It does not hurt my knees. Actually, I realized today that cutting out those two weight machines at the gym has really worked, no more sore knees. These were concentrating on quads and hamstrings - lots of knee tork! (is that a word? ha).
don't give up Harley!!!! I agree with June! Can you turn down the "pressure" so you spin more easily??
-
Yay!, Spring! 45 minutes on that terrible torture machine!
Nope, I am using the lowest setting, it just really hurts my knees, after I fell down, when running, outside, at our friend's house in Cocoa Beach, last year.
I think we are going to try to sell ours; we had someone come over and look at it. He seemed very interested, and he even brought his wife, which is a GOOD sign. We women make ALL the decisions! LOL
Have a great weekend, everybody.

Hi everyone, works been busy, and Spring, reading your email makes me darn happy to be able to say that. I'm thinking treadmill and elliptical today, little of both
-
whoop Spring, reading your post I mean
-
Man is coming to take the elliptical. I hope we can get our treadmill SOON!!!
Harley
-
That's great Harley! I guess the elliptical is not for everyone... I have to do 45 minutes on mine today! That's the plan!
Tomorrow we are driving up to NJ (long drive) to visit family and my mother who is not doing so well. I hope to get to a gym as a guest while up there. Have to check on that! I am working there for the week - just bringing the computer with me...
-
Harley congrats on getting rid of your machine and hopefully the treadmill will be your thing.....
Springtime have a safe trip and hope your mom is doing better.....
I did the gym this morning with dear hubby and we did weights for 1 1/2 hours and I could not do the elliptical as I did something last week and I have not been the same. However, I can do the treadmill and will have to do my 30 minutes tonight.....
Hope everyone has a happy Saturday!
-
The 10 minute rule turned into 30, but, sure wasn't a day it was fun. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I'm ready for warm weather and walks outside
-
Yes kmmd I too am ready for the warm weather.....PLEASE HURRY!!!!
-
I know I LOVE the treadmill!! I was ok with the elliptical, until I fell twice last year, when I was outside, running. Now it hurts when I use the elliptical.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Sunday weights before we left town to drive up the east coast. Today 30 minutes on my sister-in-laws treadmill. I could not do 45, I was so bored!! (No TV in there, and you can't even read a magazine - there was nothing to hold it!). But that's okay. Tomorrow, I am going to see if I can get a week's membership at gold's gym where my brother goes. Don't want to miss the weights and risk the LE acting up!
-
Spring, I know someone with their treadmill facing right against the wall. No TV, no reading, just a blank wall 2 feet away. Always wondered how they could do that more than a few minutes
-
We have had a wonderful weekend with the weather. It is chilly today but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I broke down and got a Wii. My exercise will be putting it together and getting it to work. I will post more once I get everything hooked up.
Harley - Did you MIL break her wrist last year? Take some time for you.
Spring - have a safe trip and hopefully you can get some exercise in. It is still too cool up there for outside activities.
My DS leaves on Sunday to get his girls and move them to NC. A magazine group went fishing on the boat and will write an article for next year. Keep movong and I will be back soon. Have to walk the Dd now. She still gets 2 walks a day.

I should have checked this thread out earlier...fitness gal here, can I join in here with you ladies???
