Radiation and blood counts

Options

Does anyone know if low WBC counts are a concern with radiation.  I thought I read that somewhere, although it is not as common as it is with chemo.  I have developed a sinus infection this week and am running a pretty high fever.  I am wondering if I should bring it to the attention of my rad onco?

The techs have not acted concerned at my morning rads appointments, so maybe it is not an issue with rads.

I have never heard of this but maybe someone else has.   I had 30 Rads.   I did notice toward the middle and end feeling lightheaded sometimes.   But I did not ask them about it.

Yes, blood counts are a concern!  Talk to your rad onc!!  You should be getting pretty regular blood counts through all this.

I got a low white cound and also anemia because my rads were hitting my stomach and the rib above it.  It took over a year to get it back and I still have to take iron.  If your count is too low they can give you an injection.
