You are not being stupid. I'm actually amazed that you are calm enough to do your research. Good for you. I had 2 lobular tumors, one 2cm and the other 9 mm on opposite sides of the left breast. Struggled with the decision. Husband happens to be a plastic surgeon who has known and loved these breasts for more than 30 yrs yet he was convinced that I'd be left with a 'Swiss cheese' breast even with the best of efforts. I was also releived that a mx means no second surgeris for wider excisions if needed and no radiation. Reconstruction can be more difficult on a breast that's been irradiated should you need to reconstruct later. So I don't regret my decision. I kept the right breast which is being watched closely with MRIs. Glad I did as at least there is sensation on one side. Flip side of everything I've said is that I miss my lost breast badly and do worry about the other one. So there is no easy answer here. I felt strongly that I wanted a breast that hid these things so stealthily, OFF. Not much science there...good luck, we are with you.

Thanks for that, sgreenarch, has given me something to think about.  It all seems such a big gamble.

If you are large breasted you might be able to have a reduction/ lumpectomy where they take a lot.
