Gammagram vs Mammogram / MRI

Does anyone have any information on how accurate a gammagram is?  We all know how a mammogram can miss things, even a digital mammo, is gammagram any better or has anyone had one rather than an MRI ?

There is a place near me that does them, and I am so tired of overhearing the radiologist (at various hospitals) say "I'm not sure about that spot, I need another view."   I know MRI is expensive, so is a gammagram a sensible alternative?  Has anyone here had one?

After googling this term, I see that it is a new type of follow up after a suspicious mamogram. My guess is it's more expensive since it is newer. Some sites quote a price of $600.00. My last mammo was $350, but it is less than an MRI.

Before relying on  a gammagram I'd want to know if it is a proven technique and how the results compare to mammograms and mris. I'd also want to know the experience of the person interrupting the results.  The person interrupting the findings of any test is key.

Sue, I opted for a preventative BM recently but before I did, I was considered high risk and this is what was recommended to me: alternating BSGI (gammagram) with breast MRI, each three months apart (so a total of 4 imaging sessions per year).  The BSGI was to replace the regular mammogram. Never had it done so I don't know much about it other than, similar to breast MRI, an injectible dye is used.  Hope this helps. All the best, Kelly
