since my mother died from small cell lung cancer my husband and I have participated in a lung study to find a way to detect it before it is too late, as it usually is now. We both have nodules, he ahs 2 and I have 4.

Our daughter had one found when the 1st onc sent her for a CT after a shadow showed up on her chest x-ray. Onc said she would watch it. We are waiting to hear from the new onc after a 3 week communication mess to get the scans sent to him (communication problems is why we switched oncs), so we'll have to see what Dr. Ballard says when he sees them. Hopefully it is nothing but I know the fear when I was told I had them just after my mother's death with SCLC, but these nodules seem to have no relation to cancer. Hopeeveryone gets the same results taht I did on this issue.

It's not too promising, the onc called early this morning to say that there are three areas of concern, one is about the size of a thumb tied up in some blood vessels that they can't get to towards the middle and there are two others the size of pinkies near the ribs.  He highly suggested doing a biopsy, ASAP, which I will be doing on Friday.  He of course was very nice apologized for having to deliver such news and said we'll talk more on Tuesday of next week after the biopsies.

Ah, Jenn, I'm so sorry you didn't receive more encouraging news.

I don't really know what to say, except remember nothing is definite until the biopsy.  Hold tight.

    Thinking of you ((((hugs))))

Hi Jenn - My friend, who had throat cancer after being a first responder for Sept 11th in NYC -was told he had lung nodules.  They were quite sure it was cancer.  After they biopsied them, they found it was due to a resperitory infection he had.

Thanks, I'm hoping it'll all work out.  What worries the onc and is on my mind is that there was nothing there in April or October, the two previous x-rays and/or CT scans.  My onc will also be doing an extensive blood panel and PET scan this week so that when we talk next week everything will have been covered, or at least most of it.

As is the worry of a lot of us and strange as it sounds, I hate putting my family through this AGAIN.  I have finally reached the point where I'm starting to feel good again.......I feel like my old self except better.  I'll keep you posted.

I'm so sorry that you have to continue to wait and worry.  We're here for you and we'll be in the waiting room.  I'm sending a big cyber hug.

Okay.........did my blood work today, I have the lung biopsy Friday morning, the PET scan early Monday morning and the onc visit on Tuesday.  Luckily work has been really busy, normally I wouldn't say that, but it helps keep my mind busy with other stuff.

Nancy - your first post where you said you thought the topic was LUNG NOODLES still makes me laugh.  I find myself looking in my favorites for lung noodles.  I think for future reference I will now refer to lung nodules as lung noodles :)

Thank you to everyone for the prayers, thoughts and crossed fingers and toes - I need all I can get.

I am thinking about you today jenn3 while you get your biopsy done and am hoping for good news for you next week.  Please let us know how things worked out.  It seems as though the weeks when you are waiting to get tests or find out test results are the hardest weeks of all.
