Tamoxifen Question

Options

Hello!

I've just joined this community. Been looking through the posts for support. What an amazing group sharing.

I had a lumpectomy in August and had 1 week, 2x a day of radiation in September. I finally saw my mediacal oncologist to see what the next step is. I was figuring it was going to be Tamoxifen. My caner was 9mm. The Dr. said that if 100 patients with 5mm-9mm cancers took Tamo- that 1 or 2 would have a benefit. Doesn't seem very high, given the side effects. He said it was my choice, (duh).

I don't think I want to take it, but I'm also really nervous. Probably will be for...

All the Dr's I worked with the lst few months all have different %'s for the same thing.

Any feedback, similar stories, info that you can share?

I want to make the most informed decision I can.

Thanks!

Well that is food for thought. I have been on Tamox for 2 weeks now with no side effects. I will have to ask my oncologist with his opinion is as I never knew the stats where so low.

CancerMath was very enlightening as well.
