Help!

I was just told that I am HER2- and PR - and ER indefinite.

What does ER indefinite mean?

Anyone else have that?

Kg.

I am presuming that this will have to be retested as perhaps it's inconclusive as definitely ER positive, and perhaps borderline.  It is very important that you know, so I would push for a more definitive answer and request it be retested if the BS hasn't already requested same (he/she should have).  Even if you are only marginally positive, many oncs will still have you on hormonals, which do absolutely nothing for a true triple neg.  Other gals on board are triple neg, but with only a tiny percentage of positive and most are recommended after initial treatment of chemo (which is all we triple negs have) to then do hormonals.  If there is any positivity there, you would then certainly be covering all bases.  I wish you the best and a prompt conclusion to this "limbo" you are in.

    Ditto LRM216.

My doctor considers me TN, but because I was 3% ER+, she wants me to do Tamoxifan if I tolerate it well. Be sure you get a definite answer as it is important.

My Dr. says just the opposite. I am 3% ER+ as well and he considers me a true TN- I will not get Tamoxifen- he said the side effects outweigh the benefits. I sure wish all the drs. could get on the same page!!

TifJ - I agree, it is crazy! She told me in their practice, they prefer anyone with 1%+ to take it. I haven't done all my research yet to decide...

I would not rely on this, but it seems like I read somewhere that anything under 10% is considered negative.  I could be remembering this wrong.  You may want to dig around on this board some more.  I am pretty sure I would have read that here.

I was 1-2% her positive..from my readings on some findings I find that everyone has some HER...that is why they do the FISH test to determine how much her you are.

Don't freak out too much about NOT being her positive..yes..there is Herceptin for the HER positives...but from what I have read..being her negative is not a bad thing.

Feel free to correct me ladies..

    Hi Titan:

It's the ER that is not marked as anything but "indefinite" that she's worried about.  That has to be found out as that is the most important of all.

Right..my first report said the HER was unequoval (Sp) for HERr status..so it was sent for the FISH test and determined to be negative...KG's doctor is probably ordering that test..I'm sure
