Help! Rash all over my Body :(
Hello to all my fellow Pink Ribbons...
I just finished up my 17th treatment of Herceptin on Jan. 4, 2010 and have completed everything, chemo, surgeries, and radiation...done! Since last June I have been slowly developing a spotty rash all over my body. I showed my Onc and she didn't think it was a relation to the Herceptin, but I strongly disagree. Went to the Dermatologist and he gave me creams which never worked. I'm going back for a biopsy. Just wondering if anyone has had this and will it go away. I am taking benedryl and just started benedryl topical gel. I look so gross and am so sad. Any help out there would be great. Thank you!!

I got terrible rashes for the very first time on my skin-like ever after treatment. I was not allergic to anything. The docs found out that my immune system was so compromised by the cancer treatment that I had 'candida' infection all over my skin-and once ya get it-it is hellfire to keep it in remission. i am not saying that you have it but it might be something to look at. i also developed allergic reactions to laundry soaps-you name it. Right now I am sitting here with rashes everywhere and this is a year after treatment!! Praying you will find the healer that can diagnose and heal you!! XXOO, SV

Thank you...I will ask my Dr. about that. I have really been praying that this will go away. I will be praying for you too!! XXOO :-) Hang in there!!

I was on Tykerb/Lapatinib (a new anti Her2 drug) for 3 months and had rashes all over my body. This improved when I switched to Herceptin for a year, but never went away completely in one area. So its highly likely to be related to Herceptin if you ask me. It is one of the listed side effects. Oncs tell you with such certainty that this or that is or isnt caused by Herceptin, but the reality is that it is a very new drug and the data comes in slowly and they are still finding out about it.
Dont let the doctors fob you off!
Good luck,
Lucy

I am 10 months in to a year of Herceptin. I also had a rash but was mostly my legs. My doctor said most likely compromised immune system from 12 weeks of Taxol. I have been using Aveeno Eczema Care Lotion. It has made a huge improvement. Almost gone now. I am sending positive healing energy your way.

Gabzmom....Thank you for the tip. I bought the benedryl topical gel and it looks like its working, but I will try the Aveeno. I really appreciate your input!!
Hope you are doing great in treatment and it will soon be over!
Hang in there sister.....
