Received my last Herceptin

I received my last Herceptin yesterday.  

One whole year of treatment is now done. My blood work showed CA 15-3 in the high range (U of M range for normal 32.0) at 32.7 but I am not too worried. Maybe that is just my "normal." I will have no more treatment unless something comes up. Go back to see the Oncologist in four months for a check-up.

Next Wednesday I have another echocardiogram, then have my port removed and the last thing on the list is to have a PET scan. I have never had a PET scan, so this is the new part. My doctor said it would be the last test done so that he knows he has looked at everything.

 Hard to believe that 16 months of surgeries, chemo, radiation therapy and now Herceptin are now done and I actually got through it all pretty well. I did ask the Oncology nurse what would happen if I should have a recurrence. She said there were two more drugs waiting to be approved for HER2 patients so she felt confident that anything new could be dealt with.
