neuropothy

I finished Taxol mid Nov. and I had very mild pinching in my fingers during treatment and now suddenly my fingers on 1 hand are hurting, pinching and sensative to hot and cold also the toes on one foot feel like pins and needles on and off. I noticed sometimes my hand huts and Im not as coordinated  while writing. I mention this to my Oncologist and he said must be something else cause Ive been off the Taxol for 3 months. I am going to be tested though. I did read somewhere that the neuropathy symptoms peak about 4 months later. Why dosent my Dr. know this? He said its probably something else...Has this happened to anyone else?? Has anyone heard of this delayed reaction?  Thanks Elena

Yes I agree.  Mine got worse a   couple of months later.  Are you by chance on Femara or another AI.  Nerve pain is one of the SE.  Have you been put on anything for your neorpathy?  Also extreme cold and heat can make it worse.  Heat is the worse for me.  Everybody is different.

    Hi Elena

I have really bad neuropathy in my feet from Taxotere. It didnt really start until about three weeks after my last treatment. My doctor never said anything about the timing just that it can happen with chemo. I'm on Gabapentin and it works pretty good but my soles are constantly burning. I have also heard vitamin B6 works too but I went through a bottle of that already and didn't see much of a difference. My fingers were a bit numb but they have improved, I think because I iced my fingers during chemo. If god forbid I ever have to have chemo again I am going to ice my feet too! I have heard it can go away. Let's hope so!!
