Hey Sue. Thank you. I don't know what category it is. They haven't told me. They just said they were setting me up with the biopsy and the nurse said she would call to let me know when. I should hear something today...or tomorrow.
I guess I will ask her when she calls if she knows. I didn't think to ask that..
It's good to hear from you too! -
Thank you Oakley!
-
rachel5738 do u shower in the a.m. before rads to take off the the cream from the night before?
-
Hey Sherry. Thank you also! Yes it is hard, especially when it was their mistake!!
I did get some good news tho.... We had the AFLAC people come out in July '10... had my mammogram in Aug... the biopsies, and the ext. in Dec... well, they sent me a check! I am so thankful that I did that!! I had signed up for four of the benefits and cancer was one of them. So glad I did now!!! Atleast something has come out of this ...... -
CONGRATS RED!! So happy for you!!!
-
Thank you so much beachner and hope you feel better soon!!!!
-
Sue - I like your new picture!!
-
sunangel money is always good, because with bc it just seems to keep going out.

I asked the tech about the creams since they prescribed the silver cream for my burn and she said as long as they could not see it on me I would be fine. A friend had some soft cosmetic pads that I could put under my arm where my burn was, it felt so good. I have my Aquaphor to put on after tx with the pad, working hard to keep my skin hydrated, two more regular tx and boost here I come. I do see the RO today and have him look at my skin, he saw it last week and wanted to if it looked better.

Thanks Oakley - I went and had a hair cut yesterday. It was getting very round in shape. The curls have been driving me crazy. I noticed the roots were coming in a bit straighter and thought if we trimmed half an inch off it might improve the fuzz. She has also trimmed the sides to give it a better shape. When she dried it, she straightened it out, so it will be interesting to see how it looks today after I wash it. I had wavy hair before but chemo curls are totally crazy!!
Also, got my new tyre - hooray - now I can relax while driving. The guys at the tyre place only charged me for the tyre and not fitting it. They suggested putting my spare on the back as well seeing it had never been used and they blacked it for me.
We went out for dinner for DH's birthday which was really yummy - nice to have a night off cooking.
-
beacher - I put on the cotton tank top because I read on here that some women have a lot of trouble with the fold where the breast hangs over. I thought the tank would avoid skin to skin contact and absorb sweat. Seems ok so far. All the things I am doing came from good advice here!
Hi suepen - good pic!
-
Thanks Omaz - the perm effect has been getting me down, so it's been a little lift for me. Sill, I should be grateful it actually grew back.
-
suepen - Nice picture and haircut. Having someone else to my hair always makes me feel better.
omaz - You are smart in using the tank top under the bra. Not only will it keep the skin from touching and absorb sweat, it will keep the creams from staining your bra. I did not find that trick until I was more than half way through rads. I have purple marks from the sharpies on mine.

13 of 35! I tried the sleeping pills last night and it worked beautifully except that I slept 12+ hours. Maybe today/tonight I will sleep eight hours and then actually get up so I am on time for treatment!!!.
I feel like I have become some weird irresponsable mess. I must improve, I must improve, I must improve.

-
Ginger - so glad you got some help with sleep! Just think, you are 1/3 done! Today, I am done - #35 is finally here! I would have to say the time went really quickly and the few days of crispy were not a big deal. Wish you were on the morning shift to be part of my graduation walk
Take care!

raincitygirl - CONGRATS ON FINISHING RADS! I AM DOING THE HAPPY DANCE WITH YOU!

I posted this on the feb 2010 forum too.
Did anyone see the news about removal of nodes for early stage BC? It was on one of those early morning news shows (I caught it on MSNBC on line). It left me so furious with my surgeon, maybe that's too strong a word, frustrated maybe.
From my take on the article, since July, the study has recommended only removal of 1 or 2 nodes for testing because the treatment for a lumpectomy will take care of any cancerous nodes, especially with the systemic 5 year treatment pill after radiation. I am upset, because I already have issues (removal of 21 nodes, all clear by the way), and when I told my surgeon 2 weeks ago that I was having issues and would it get worse with radiation, he reluctantly admitted it probably would but then told me that I could die from cancer without radiation. Duh! Talk about shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted. He knew (before surgery) I only have use of that one arm (the other one is pretty restricted (injury)).
If anyone reads this who has not yet had a lumpectomy, please discuss this with the doctor before surgery. I don't mean restrict him if he needs to take more, but make him aware of this study. You have to be your own advocate.
Grrrrrrrrrr! and I was having a good day before reading this.
-
Thank you Jo!!! I have no idea what the new normal will be, but I do know that I am very grateful to be at this point. Off to practice my graduation walk
-
CONGRATULATIONS RAINCITY. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Had my last regular treatment #25 cancelled today due to weather here in TX again. So far have missed 4 treatments due to weather. Well 6 more and I am done, the end is so near. Was marked with a paint marker yesterday for my boost treatments, it rubbed off from the silver cream so will have to be remarked again. Hopefully can bet in tomorrow. I am so ready for this to be done.
-
mjbmiller - is Frisco near Houston? My husband's flight TO Houston was just cancelled and I don't know why, then I saw your post. I think I'll go check out the weather channel now!
raincitygirl - YAY!! Great great great!! So happy for you. I'm right behind you for Monday - can't come soon enough. Already feeling better just having the boosts!
lestwin - I did read that and I'm sorry that you're having so much trouble. I did have a SNB and I knew beforehand that the BS would take out 3 nodes at the minimum. She ended up taking 7 because of "fatty tissue" (so so tired of that word!!), and all were negative, so I felt very safe. I luckily have not had any issues thus far (I hear they can come on later, much later). Oh I feel for you and your frustration. ((((lestwin))))
-
oakley - so the boosts are easier?? I have one more whole breast then 7 boosts. Got marked up today.
-
I did it! All done! Time to celebrate. . .
Teklya
-
Teklya - HOOORAY!!!!!!
-
Omaz - oh yes, yes, yes. The boosts are much easier - my area is at the 3:00 on left breast. The "boost" area is just this circle around that, probably 5 inches in diameter (don't quote me on that). They just do that one spot - just about under a minute. It is quicker and now the other parts of your breast that were radiated begin to heal immediately. I think you were on the 23/7 plan like me. You will really feel like you're in the home stretch when you start on Friday! Good luck!
-
Tekyla - Hooray for you!!
-
Thanks oakley - Looking so forward to being done!!!!
-
When I am all done, I'm going to march on over to Jo's bonfire thread...I'll be ready, I think...
-
lestwin - I heard the news story this morning on Good Morning America about not having to have as many nodes removed. I was fortunate that I only had 3 removed - still have numbness in the arm. That has got to be frustrating for those who had more needlessly removed. With all the other treaments we have to go through - you would think all the cancer cells would be killed.
Tekyla - Congrats on finishing rads!
Oakley - You can start throwing things in the bonfire anytime. No need to save it up. It really is fun and a good way to purge all the crappy stuff.
