    hi everyone

Jenn - I had not read that about radiation and thyroid connections. Interesting! I did have radiation in the clavicle area so I suppoe it is possible. I'll let you know when I know. (I'm wearing 4 layers right now!)

    Hi girls.

About thyroid problems after radiation. Two friends of mine got thyroideacancer after radiation. If there is a connection between radiation and thyroidea cancer it`s hard to say, anyway, they are fine and healthy now. My onc also told med that radiation can sometimes cause problems with your thyroid. I heard nearly 10 % getting problems with this.

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about these cold/hot problems!   I never heard the connection between radiation and thyroid either.  But it makes sense.  There is a clear connection between the full body radiation lymphoma patients used to get and the development of all kinds of cancers later.  Sad.

Janda - I'm not sure how long it takes to get regulated temperature-wise after finishing chemo.  I do know it takes a long while before you get back to "normal".   My 1-year anniversary of finishing chemo is next week and it is just in the past couple of months that I've realized my energy and stamina are completely back!  But you will feel better and better.

Gill - Sounds like your doctor is being prudent.  That's good!

Jenn - Wet those kidneys, girl!

I hope everyone has a warm weekend.

Just popping in to say hello!!!

I just got another hair "trim" because it was getting too thick....still loving and working the curls.  My hairdresser asked if I would come back and be a "model" she wants to fix my hair with the new product that she uses for curly hair (and that I am now using and LOVE) and post a picture on her website.   Last year at this time I had peach fuzz.....who would have thought I'd now have a head full of thick curly hair......

It's still cold out, but the sun is shinning and it's a beautiful day.  Hope that you're all staying warm and have a wonderful day.

Lilah - Got my tickets to Emma at the Old Globe.  Can't wait!

Jenn - You lucky thing you...pretty curls.   I had the opportunity to go to lunch with two BCO sisers from the September 09 chemo board (what a trip that was!) and one gal had the prettiest soft curls.  Her hair was completely straight pre-chemo.

Patty -- I have mostly straight here too... a bit of a wave now.  Maybe when it gets longer it will show some curl, I don't know.  But I definitely did NOT get the post-chemo curls!  Ah well.  I do like it -- it's HAIR lol.  Also: have fun at Emma!  Post a report after you go :)

Jenn -- hey if your hair stylist posts a picture of you on her website you'll have to give us the link so that we can see!

If I get to be on the website - I will positively get the picture over here!!!

The weather is beautiful today, it's cool, not cold, the sun is shinning and not a cloud in the sky.  I took a long walk with the dogs this morning - love this weather.  Now I have a big pot of gumbo cooking for later in the week and we're watching football......whoo hoo!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

I was reading about the terrible weather up North and on the East Coast - ugh!!! Lilah isn't there your neck of the woods?  How much snow did y'all get?  I can't even imagine.......

Endless snow it seems, Jenn.  We've had a snow storm pretty much once a week since Christmas!  It keeps melting in between though... but I am getting tired of shovelling it.

Lilah - it looks like you'll be under the snow again.....  We have unusually cold(er) weather, but nothing like what you have.  My youngest is in North Lousiana and said that it is much colder than what we're used to......can't imagine the temperatures where you are.

My Mom and sister went to see Kings Speech and highly recommend so I've convinced DH to come with me this weekend to see it.  And.........I have a free movie ticket coupon that expires on the 31st :)

The temps aren't too bad here (for winter) -- we're in the low 30s at the moment (it could be much worse)... and yes, another snow storm in full swing.  Sigh.  January has been brutal.

On a happier note:I loved King's Speech.  Hey it got 12 Academy Award nominations so it's no slouch :)

My thyroid is apparently fine. I suppose I have just turned into a cold person!

Finally got the "Lost in Austen" dvd from the library. SIL told me a long time ago to watch it, but only after watching the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice. I did that a while ago. DH was away this week so invited a friend to come over and we did dinner and a movie. It was 3 hours long!!!! But very enjoyable. My friend had neither seen nor watched Pride and Prejudice so not sure how much she got out of it.

Now I'm trying to persuade DH to watch "The King's Speech,"

Gill - glad to hear your thyroid is okay, your changes are "normal".  How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

I think this weekend will be Kings Speech, it has to be great with so many recommendations and Oscar nominations.

Gill -- sounds like fun!  And I'm glad there's nothing wrong with your thyroid :)

Jenn -- enjoy!  Let us know what you think.

Jenn - our weather is mostly - nothing. No snow for a while and temps in the 40s. Makes us feel like spring is on the way. But having lived here for almost 25 years I know better! We are SURE to get another big winter blast before we are done.

Today feels like and smells like an early spring day.  I think it's a trick, to get me comfortable before the next cold snap or rainstorm........

Today it was a dreary day.  I call them "gray days" where everything looks gray, it's either raining or misting and if possible, stay indoors...... I've come to realize that the weather my DD gets at college seems to reach us about a day or day and half later - she's my weather channel when I forget to check the weather.

Yesterday I spent hours in the backyard cleaning bird baths, washing down the garage door and front area, weeding gardens, cutting down dead plants and cleaning the patio.  Today I woke up so sore......my body found muscles I fogot were there - ouch!  DH came home and couldn't believe what I had done and was upset telling me he planned on doing it.  The truth of the matter is, it felt good to do the work, to have not only have the energy, but the will or motivation to get out there and work hard.    I haven't felt like that in years - I loved it!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

WTG Jenn!  I had a similar burst of energy over the weekend -- but it involved going through all my closets and dressers and pulling out three huge bags of clothes for donation to Goodwill (which we dropped off yesterday).  THAT felt SO good!  I have room again!

Lilah - I hit the closets and our office (junk room) a few weeks ago.  It's like I'm waking up from a long sleep and ready to clean out, organize and redo "stuff".  I'm sure this won't make DH happy come Spring when I push to repaint our garage.......hehehehehehe.

This weather is just crazy.  The mid-west, south and east getting record snow and cold, So. Cal getting record warmth!   We had the warmest January on record...temps in the high 70's and 80's with bright sunny skies.  Counting my blessings....

I got inspired and decided to have the eaves of the house painted..they were looking a little ragged. The painter came and noticed some termite damage.  So the termite people came.  Before treating they recommended having the damaged boards replaced. So the carpenters came. Sadly my little spruce-up project has blossomed into two weeks of guys hammering and banging to replace damaged trim and three days out of the house for termite tenting...before I can even think about painting. Ah... the joys of home ownership!

Glad your thyroid is working as it should Gill!

Patty -- LOL (sorry to laugh but really isn't that always the way?)  Anyway it's good you caught the damage early and treated for the termites!

Jenn -- it's good to be back, isn't it? :)

Thanks Patty. Nothing much going on here. DH is away for a few days AGAIN this week so that means I eat too much! I'm on the TN Ten Pound Take-Off thread and not being very successful so far. (Although I didn't start the thread, I am happy to say I came  up with the name.)

Lilah/Gill - I think I'd really like to go and am hoping that things work in my favor because it just sounds like so much fun!!!

Patty, sorry your spruce up project grew, but glad to hear you got it done.

We've had some pretty cold weather down here this past week. Although, I'm sure not near as cold as Lilah and maybe Gilly have had.  My youngest daughter is in North Lousiana and they are getting colder temps than she's used to - it's kinda funny listening to her talk about it.  Thursday, she and her friend were slipping and sliding trying to walk on the ice getting to and from class.

I sure hope the weather warms up and dries up for the weekend, we have a small party Saturday and then Sunday is the Superbowl and we're hosting a get together.  Whoo Hoo.....

Stay warm and talk to y'all later.

    Checking in to say hello............

Not much happening over here, it's cold, but sunny with a beautiful blue sky.  After we finish reading the paper and lounging a little we have to start getting some stuff together for the Superbowl get together tonight.  Then.........no more football, but that also means spring is that much closer - whoo hooooooooo!!!!

LOL Jenn -- enjoy the game!  I think we are taping it so that we can see the commercials (sorry not a big football person).
