My consultation with the oral surgeon was moved up to Feb 15. That means I should get to have the biopsy in Feb - Yay ! The sooner the better....
Gina, I think a Team Jan retreat is a great idea ! I think we have discussed Indianapolis before, anyone else with any ideas?
-
Hugs to everyone in the team.
AWESOME NEWS, KIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear that you're appointment is moved sooner, Sally!!!
It's great to hear from everyone.
Elaine, hoping that you're feeling better all the time.
Gina, glad to hear that you're on the mend.
Happy Ground Hog's Day indeed. (That's was our very first movie together, so we always smile a little wider today. Whoohoooo!!!)
We're just back from a couple of days at the beach.
Was thinking of everyone here.... we've officially made it to February!!!

Kim: I'm so happy for you!
Sally: I'm trhrilled your appointment is moved and you don't have to wait so long for an answer.
I hope everyone is safe and warm.

Slid my way to PT (little nutsy, but once you get down the road enough to realize how crazy it is, you're already halfway there!). Now my elbow hurts - ow, ow, ow.
Still coughing; thank goodness for cough syrup with hydrocodone.
Faith - my dad lives in Florida; he called tonight to rub my nose in the fact that it's in the 70's there, while we're having an unusual cold snap here in DFW - in the teens! Brrr. So I'm hoping for a warmer meeting place???
Can you tell I've got cabin fever? There really is nothing to do here when we get snowed in.

I think this is the first winter that I can remember that I have to get out my hat and gloves-and this is sunny AZ! It's supposed to dip down into the teens tonight-43 for the high today. It was so cold on my way to work my car told me "ice may be present-drive with care." Funny. Smart car.
Well it's official-my ovaries are coming out on the 21st. It's a mandatory overnight hospital stay-I was surprised about that. But I'll soak up the rest-no problem. He said he'll write me a note to be off work for as long as I want! Wheeeee!
-
Kim - awesomedoodles
so happy for you!!! and yeah, even though I had my hysterectomy done lap., (and it was a piece of cake - no pain at all *except for the gas they used to blow me up like a balloon!!)....I treated my overnight stay in the hospital as a retreat for myself...ha! I sent everyone home, and I read all night long. I enjoyed myself immensely....who'd of thought?!?! Hope your surgery goes just as well
Greetings and love to ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sally so glad you got your appointment moved up. That was way too long to have to wait.
Faith, thanks for the "Beach" sign. It always warms my heart when I see your sign. Not sure why it has such a big impact on me. Perhaps longing to be on a beach or that it has such a special place for this group, since you first wrote it in the sand and officially made us "Team January"
Kim so sorry this is continuing for you. Take as much time as you need if he is willing to give it to you. Maybe it will go as well as Robin's did.
Have a good night
Cathy
-
Kim - good that you're getting those puppies out and getting some time off. Hope that works out well for you.
We're snowing again. It's piling up on top of the ice. It's nutsy.
-
Workshop for teachers cancelled due to snow. For some reasons, Texans don't know what to do with snow. I've been off work more than on this month - first sick, then ice and snow. Wish I felt motivated enough to get other stuff done. But NOoo! I've been a slacker couch potato, watching bad TV and re-reading lots of books.
-
Hey Girls I have been reading and want to say Kat you look beautiful, keep up the good work. Kim I am so happy for you... Sally - Hang in there.
I didn'y post for I went to the oncologist on Thursday. She asked if I had a colonoscopy I said I did it 3 years ago. I don't have to go till next year. We started to talk about Zomeda infusion which I got in Nov. and told her I was just starting to feel better from that. She said something new is out and will discuss it with me. She then proceeded to examine me and was checking near where I had my 5 nodes taken out the day of my surgery. She was pushing and pushing... Said.... I WANT YOU TO GO FOR A SONOGRAM....WTF.....She said it was probably scar tissue, but she feels something.and wants to be safe.... I should of kept my mouth shut... Now I am a nervous wreck stomach all in up roar. Can't sleep . want to cry...Has any one else experienced this? I go on Wed for the sono and on Friday I have an appointment with BS which was suppose to be my 1 year check up.
I want to cry and jump off the bridge.
Anyway please say a prayer for me as I am praying for you on a daily bases.
I don't know what to say.
I guess--------- courage!

BAD WORDS
BAD WORDS
BAD WORDS!!!!!
Donna. I just can't believe yet another of our team is faced with concerns. I just deplore that these issues continue to rear their ugly heads. I hate that the energy and the concern crank right back to priority number one.
(((((((((((((Donna)))))))))))))
(((((((((((((Sally)))))))))))))))
(((((((((((((Kim)))))))))))))))))
So many. Too many.
I hope that this is again vigilant zealous hyper-watch-dog mentality.
It's good that everyone has a team who is keeping close tabs on the details.
You know the drill. Stay busy. Stay distracted. Keep moving.

Hang in there Donna! This one year mark for all of us has a different flavor to it. The first year was all about (well for me anyway) getting through the mutilation and coming out on the other side feeling semi whole again. This second year is marked with fears that are riddled with thoughts of mortality. I think that is natural course of things. I also firmly believe that our health care providers take it to the extreme somewhat...we have an expression in the medical community CYA...Cover Your Ass. (theirs...some of ours, but mostly theirs)
I'm praying the area on your incision is scar tissue...she's probably felt it many times on other women and can identify what is what and since she's just asking for a sono that is a positive thing. Be positive!
Sally, I"m glad they have moved up your date too! The waiting is just so non-productive.
Have a great Super Bowl Sunday ladies...and may the best Team win (that will be Team January of course!:)
xoxo

donna, kim, sally & others
let's just all say 'God bless them' for being cautious. thankfully most of the time these little lumps & bumps end up being scar tissue, or fatty lumps, or fluid pocket, or whatever. but nipping something not so benign in the bud is the order of the day.
the oncologists i use to work for always said they looked at any & all symptoms differently than other docs... always through the view of possible mets or new disease. they wanted to know anything that was 'different'... even down to a long lasting 'cold'. not to be paranoid, but rather pro-active, just know what is normal for you & let them do the worrying about any changes.
that said-here i am in arizona, soaking up the sun & refusing to go for any follow-up until i get home. but trust me, there were extensive discussions about promising to watch for any changes myself & call right away.
kat-i know what you mean about the thoughts of mortality. i try to remind myself that my g'm had mx at my age & lived to be almost 100. actually, i'm planning on starting to smoke, drink more, eat lots of fat & red meat if i make 80, & go for a nice quick heart attack. g'ma had altzheimers, so don't want to wait too long. also, thinking my new boobs might look wierd being so perky after that..........

Donna like the others have said, let's hope and pray for the doctor being overly cautious. While they are being overly cautious, all of us will send our prayers your way. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Today's 6 month check-up with onc clear. Yay.
-
Yay Elaine !
-
Hello ladies! Hugs to Donna-Congrats to Elaine-thanks for everyone who has been keeping me in their prayers!
Had a follow up with the PS yesterday-since I had that little lump and am only 2 weeks post op, she wouldn't discuss nipples. Appointment in another month. Humpf! I seriously didn't think it would take this long to get the nips done.
Follow appointment with the Onc immediately after-just went over the pathology of the lump, advised me to take 1200mg of Calcium a day to combat the Osteopinea. Nothing exciting. Got to flash my boobs to two doctors within an hour-whoo hoo!
Gonna have my girlfriend/hairstylist look at my hair today to see if she can do any sort of style with it. I'm so done with wearing a wig and can't wait to color it. It's a really weird brownish/gray. And I think I mentioned my eyelashes starting falling out again? Still losing a few each day and not able to wear mascara AGAIN! Aaargh!
I hope everyone had a great weekend, and this week has started out terrific! -
Yeah Elaine! Good for you.
Kim and Sally {{{{HUGS}}}}
Well tomorrow is my sono.. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Love you January team. Thanks for being there for me.

That's WonderBoy on the left followed by the twizees as #2 & #3.
We got the tshirts for them in NYC during that vagabond. Fun times.

TEAM JANUARY!!!!
Good news report..............
I just opened my email and I have an email from the mayor of NYC!!!!!!!!
Do you remember me telling you that I sent a copy of my new picture book to him? The picture book is a tribute to September 11th and I sent him my book in honor of the coming 10th anniversary.
Anyhow, he sent me an email!!!!!!!
I'm so excited to even think that it made it's way thru the office.
Here's the full greeting:
Dear Ms. Clement:
I was honored to receive your book, and I apologize for my long-delayed reply. On behalf of the City of New York, thank you for your compassion and concern for those affected by the events of September 11, 2001. The outpouring of support we have received from around the world has been a tremendous source of comfort for us all. Many thanks again for your kindness and best wishes.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Bloomberg
MayorHappy dancing!!! Happy dancing!!!!!
