Missind rads today, schools closed 4 in of snow on the ground, staying in.  Found out the purple spot under the arm pit was burnt skin that broke open this morning.  Put the silver sulfadiazine on with gauze.  Glad for the break now.  See what Monday brings.

luvmylabs - Hmmm!  hard to say there - perhaps it's because you are stage 1 with no nodes?  I know I am grade 3, no nodes but based on the grade 3 and larger tumour they are going to do 25 zaps plus 8 boosts.  There's alot more information that they look at on the pathology report too that I am just learning about.

I guess you really have to count on their knowledge - if they feel it won't make a difference and the fact that you are hating it, the extra stress is likely not worth it.  Good luck!!

I love the though of calling the rad machine a name, especially a male name, come to think of it I am going to call it DARTH VADOR!  #5 today (later this afternoon) but first I'm going to take my daughter out for lunch (her b/d is Sunday) so we will celebrate one week of rads is over.

I guess I am offically going on to rads, chemo done yesterday, feeling good today, (it's day 3-5 with no sleep that kills me) anyway, rad marking appt rescheduled for 2/16, then I guess rads start week of march 1.  nice to be done with chemo, but a bit scared as I am TN and all I have is the chemo and rads, no pills or treatments after that.  just gotta stay positive.  Onc gave me valium to try instead of ativan or ambien, hoping I will sleep.  any suggestions on the sleep stuff would be great...I actually purchased melatonin, primary said I could take that also, anyone every use that?    Congrats on those who are done with rads, its so inspiring to me who feels that it will be such a long journey going every day.  I was told 28 tx, not sure if that's with boosts or not.  Looking forward to a break for a month from chemo to rads, hoping for no major side effects with this last chemo!! one can only hope!!!

BEacher- I used galaxal base religiously every day. You can see holes in the skin in my underarm.

IVe been prescribed an anti biotic for post burns. My last one is monday, but my radiologist will have a look at the skin to see if I really need that one.

I hate radiation, and my skin is all messed up. I took Tylenol 3 last night to sleep. it helped :)

Sorry for those of you having problems with rads.  I feel your pain as I was just there two weeks ago. The hope I can give you is that as soon as I finished rads I my skin started healing up very quickly.  I will be two weeks out Monday and my skin is like night and day.  I am still tanned and the skin under my breast and arms are still darker but I can see that all of it is starting to fad.  In fact last night when I was getting ready for bed my DH walked in and he commented on how much better my skin looked.  I am still using my Xclair cream that I used during rads and also have added Vitamin E cream.  I worked really hard at trying to keep my skin in good shape because I really want to have implants put in and get some symetry and I need my skin to be in good shape for this.

I am just four from done!  Thank goodness!  It hasn't been too bad but I did get the post burns under my arm.  I can't use silvadene because I am alllergic to sulfa but they gave me antiobiotic cream - that burned so badly that I had to stop immediately.  I am using aloe and the xclair prescription cream for radiation and can tell you that 3 days later, I am much, much better.  Once the peeling started, the discomfort improved greatly.  I was also given a sheet of gel/silicone stuff that protects the area very nicely and helped tons.  It is called mepilex or something like that....good luck!

Raincity my RO gave me an ointment call Regenecare which had lidocaine in it.  It burned for a sec but then numbed the area so I could then put my antibiotic ointment or creams or whatever on.  Otherwise everything including water burned.  Regenecare is a script

Well taking it real easy today, keeping ointment on.  Lifting my righ arm has been hard as the skin is tight, but keep on doing it as I will have other problems if I don't.

beacher - I can't say it has been hard time, I would actually say it has been very easy.  Yes, I have had this little bump at the end, but I am lucky that it has not been a big deal.  Hoping others heal quickly too!  But, don't be scared....it's been a fairly pleasant experience.

Number 19 done - now have 4 more regulars and then the boosts.  I go see an LE specialist hopefully next week.  Have swelling in the rads side arm.  Bummed, but hopefully we are catching it early.  Anyone else have any trouble with that?  Lymphedema?

Just finished up second week--10 treatments so far--so I will be here through February.  Skin a bit pink but not too bad.  Using aloe and calendula cream several times a day.  Think I have 23 more sessions to go.

beacher-no expanders that is actually something I am really worried about whether my rad skin will stretch.  My RO does not seem to be worried about it.  This was my second lump in the same breast so it is smaller.  My BS is areally good surgeon, but she believes in breast conservation and rushed me into surgery without giving me the option of a MX without radiation.  for that I am upset about because now I want my breast fixed and I know it is going to be more difficult.  So I cream and message my skin to keep it stretched several times a day. I hope that with all my effort it will pay off.  buy the timeI realized that a MX w/out radiation was an option I was already 1/2 way through radiation. I spoke to my RO about it but he seemed to think I would be fine. I exercise alot and he thinks with all my oxygenflow to my skin that it is a big possitive for me.  I do heal really quickly so i attribute it to that.

Decided to not call my rad machine Darth Vador after all.  It sounds so negative so have decided on Sunshine for obvious reasons.  Be positive!  My daughter told me when I dropped her off after lunch "have fun with Sunshine this afternoon".

I will be here in February and March. There is a February 2011 rads forum too.

Granny - I really don't think what your RO said is true about burning - but maybe he was trying to make you feel  better!  So glad you are done.  Are you glad you did it?  I remember you thought about it for a while.
