I'M DONE I'M DONE!  Woo Hoo!!

Thank you all so very much for all of the support you have given me these past 6 weeks - you all are amazing women!

It was a tear-filled moment for me ringing the bell this morning and saying goodbye to my techs.  In a way, it's a little scary to be done and no longer surrounded by such supportive people because it feels like now I'm off and into "good luck" territory - it honestly feels like when they hand you your child leaving the hospital and say "off you go!"  out of the protective cozy hospital environment.

I'm trying to stay strong and confident that I'm now in the driver's seat and I'm really being active in changing my diet, doing exercise and reducing stress - it's a different kind of prescription.

I wish everyone the very best of luck.  Kickon2it - I'm so sorry that you back in this position again and I send you tons of good vibes.

Thanks again all - I'll stay on for a while to see how everyone is doing!

Kick2it - sorry to see you here but big hugs.

RO office open today, have to give myself extra time to get there here in the deep freeze of TX.  I hope I get to see the RO today since I misse Tuesday which is the normal day I see him.  I want to show him my purple spot next the the SNB area under the arm pit.  It is bothering the heck out of me.  See if they have a gel pack like rancygirl recomended.  Put an ice pack on yesterday and it felt sooooo goooood!

localgirl & others - I am also done.  The same thing happened to me yesterday at my last appt., I walked out of the treatment room and by the time I got to the waiting room, I was bawling my eyes out.  All the people in the waiting room were so sweet and came up and gave me big hugs, then walked around the corner with me as I rang the bell.  I totally relate to you localgirl about the scariness of the treatment being over.  It's a whole new world now for us, one we have never lived in before.  Or maybe I should say that the world is the same, but we aren't??

I also thank all of you ladies for all the amazing support over the last few weeks.  You are all most amazing women!

Have a killer headache since finishing rads yesterday - - probably more to do with the aftermath and emotions, and tension than the rads themselves.  Breast is very purple and sore, but no skin breaking open.  Absolutely exhausted, and they tell me that is the last thing to resolve and can last several months.  So even though it's over, it's not really over.

Love you all, best of luck to everyone still in tx.  Will check on you now and again.

I guess it is normal to go through withdraw when you finish treatments.  I did when I finished Chemo and problably will with rads too.  Looking forward to the end and beyond.

to beacher: I am right there!  this is my rad #20 so 13 to go (incl. 5 boosters).  My TE feel like tupperware under my skin and the skin is red/purple and so so tight.  I have to take pain killers at night.  Oh, well during the day too esp. late afternoon. Ibuprofen oraspirin. I use two creams: biafine during the day and calmoseptine at night.  It is hard but most of the time it feels doable! Whenever I get too "in pain/anxious/fedup"...I go take a break in bed or do some yoga if I have the energy (not today).  I found that walking helps me just as it did during hard chemo.

Now I just hope I'll get to keep the TEs (I got attached to them a little ;))... and then get the silicone implant as fast as my skin allows!  If not, well, at least I will know that I tried.

Yay!!  Happy dance to being done, so happy for you all but little jealous tooTongue out.  I keep moving forward because of the strength and support I get from those who go before me.

kickon2it - I read one of your posts where you said you didn't have an MRI last year - same here. I think when you are diagnosed, an MRI should be mandatory. Although I'm still glad they didn't find it then as I really didn't want a BMX. I was very firm about having another lumpectomy. It is upsetting to go through it all again so soon, I'm still upset. But, it won't be long and we can try to get back to normal.

    localgirl and Penny - Congratulations!!!!

redninrah so sorry about your blisters.  I had them but mine dried up as soon as they popped.  Your's sound worse than mine.  Have you asked for pain pills.  I had to take them the last week because my areola was like hamburger meat. That was the only way I could get through without just quitting.

Congratulations localgirl and pennythoughts (and any other new "graduates" I may have missed)-- must be a great feeling!!!   No more daily appointments and on with your life!!! Enjoy it!

redinrah - you're almost done, I hope things don't get worse, and that they will be better soon!

I'm about halfway through myself (#18 of 36 tomorrow) and will be starting boosts tomorrow, got a CT today in preparation.  They tell me the boosts are even quicker, although I find the rads pretty quick already.  We will see how the skin holds up.  It is turning red and a slight bit itchy but that's it so far.  Any comments on the boosts from anyone??

lynda the boost are easier for most.  My reg breast skin liked it better.  It is just that where my scar was I also got part of my nipple at the boost and that was what gave me so much trouble. Should be nice having it done in the middle and then go back to the reg, will give you somewhat of a break

My tumore bed is deep in chest wall at about 2:00, and the scar is also near my nipple.  Oh well, this too shall pass...  at least I am making several new friends in the waiting room, and we all have something in common!!  :)

Congrats on those who have finished, sighing with envy.

Did get in today and back to work with out troubles, took two hours though.  Most of it was on the road.  The RO stopped my bolus treatments since it was making my skin real red/purplish, only had two more of those any way.  Well three more regular treatments and the five boost, on the home stretch.

Possibly more snow tonight or in the morning.  If the schools close, they will too.  Geish, can it stop now.

Congrats to localgirl and penny!  How exciting to be done with this daily treatment.  The treatment itself has not been too bad for me so far (I have 5 more plus 5 boosts left), but the daily thing has gotten to me.  I am over it!  Two more weeks . . .

As of tomorrow, 5 regular and then 5 boosts. My skin is a little pink and a little sore. I am counting down the days....I agree with lrr4993--the daily thing is getting to me. The one saving grace is that the Techs are great and so friendly so it makes it just that little bit easier!

Congrats to those that are finished.....like mjbmiller--I am sighing with envy!!

I am getting there too - 5 more regular then 7 boosts.  I asked the tech about the boosts today and she said they target electrons right into the scar area straight on, but the electrons don't penetrate all the way through you, they just penetrate into the breast tissue and then stop.  My skin is holding up - being a real trooper!  I goo it often.  I have named the radiation machine Hubert.  For some reason every time we get close, I think of the name Hubert.Smile

beacher and Marl -  The extreme tightness of your TE should hopefully go away after rads is done.  I finished 36 rad treatments 3 weeks ago and my TE is feeling less tight now (more like before I had rads).  My skin is almost back to normal also, started wearing a bra again.    I found that aquaphor helped with the tightness.  I also took ibuprofen as per my RO recommendation. I am now using real cocoa butter as recommended by my RO and I really like it.  Hang in there, I know it is rough but it will get better after the rads is done.

Cann't wait to use the Palmers I got for post rads celebration.

bher - did the RO give you a time when you can start regular lotion after rads?  Just wondering.

mjbmiller - The day I finished rads, the RO told me to start using cocoa butter but it took me two weeks to find one I liked so I kept using the Miaderm and Aquaphor until recently.  I am using 100% cocoa butter from the health food store but it is not convenient because it comes in a solid form and you have to melt it in your hand. It is very moisturizing and smells good (chocolate).

No 14 done - 16 to go, but there will only be 4 next week as they are closed for servicing - bummer. Skin is still not showing any signs of redness - quite amazing.

Have a great weekend girls - enjoy staying at home and not having to go for rads.

mjbmiller--my RO told me to use my Xclair that I used during TX for two weeks then to start using a good vitamine E cream after that.  Wants me to continue to use it until I see him for a 3 month check up.  I have bought a couple and not sure yet which I like the most.  I bought Burts Bee's but no fragrance and kinda stinks so I think I am going to add Lavender oil to it.  I also bought Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E cream

Hi Girls, Congrats to those who have finished rads.  I have done 9 with 12 to go and have a question.  My rads onc gave me the option of having either 19 with 5 boosts or 16 with 5 boosts saying that there's absolutely no difference.  Of course I opted for the shorter course, but I haven't heard anybody on here with as few treatments as me.  My BC was highly aggressive grade 3.  Perhaps I should have gone with more...  But he absolutely assured me and he's a professor and highly regarded.

    btw: I HATE rads :(
