PET found 'mass' in ovary area

i posted this in the waiting room thread as well:

been having some aches and pains in my joints and my back so onc ordered a PET and bone scan.  PET came back with a 6x6x7 cm 'mass' in my left ovary area.  they've referred me to follow up with my gyn.  i asked the onc nurse directly 'does this look like cancer?' she said they didn't know and that the gyn would be more familiar with this then they would be.  wtf?  had the bone scan done today.  not even worried about that as now i have to bring yet another doctor on board and look at more testing and if they are going to want to remove this 'mass' or leave it or what.  i'm still doing herceptin for two or three more treatments, i think.  when i was first dx'd i had a ct and mri done and none of those picked up any 'mass'.  i'm not taking any anti-hormonals.  so this thing could have just grown during treatment?  :: sigh ::

i need a reset button for my life.  gah.

I had something light up in my after chemo PET in my ovaries. My gyn did an ultrasound and there was nothing even there, but a cyst on the other side!!  Have you had an ultrasound on it yet?

    PiscesMoon -

I didn't have a gyno either until BC when my family physician announced his retirement. I asked for a referral to one from my med oncologist because I wanted to be followed for endometrial issues that might arise from tamoxifen.

There is a specialty called gynocology oncology, here is a website which identifies members of the organization

    http://www.sgo.org/

and when I simply googled gynocology oncology names of practitioners near me popped up.

If I had a reset button, I would fedex it to you, alternatively, I am hoping that this mass turns out to be nonexistent or benign.
