Hormone testing

Options

I just got my hormone panel done, and I thought it would be worth sharing my results, and starting a conversation for what it all means.

My estriol, the alleged "good estrogen" was within normal range, but well below the "bad estrogens" estradiol, and estrone.  Question:  if estriol is a protective against cancer according to Europeans, why wouldn't supplementation of estriol help?

My progesterone was beautifully normal.  Question:  why would I then have gotten cancer? According to Dr. Lee, isn't the role of progesterone to help cycle bad cells out?  Well, looked good.

Melatonin:  freaky high late at night.  Not good on cycadian rhythyms.

Adrenals:  clearly fatigued.

I know there is so much debate around all of this stuff, but I thought it would be interesting to discuss.

I think I read on here somewhere that even the experts don't have all the answers and it's all so confusing!

    Hi MHP70,

What type of test did you do? I am wondering what to ask for when I see my OBGyn next week. My nutritionist ran a urine test for Bone Turnover and Estrogen, but I wonder what other tests are available out there.  The test I took was Estronex.

you have to see what your progesterone is compared to your estrogens, your progesterone may be normal, however you may be estrogen dominant, so you have to see if the ratio's are correct.  I believe it should be 300 to 1, so you should have 3 times more progesterone than estradiol.  Also consider the 2:16 ratio test, this will show you if you are metabolizing your estrogens through the proper pathways, the 2 hydroxy estrone level should be high, and the 16 hydroxy estrone level should be lower, you can do this with a 24 urine test.  Bio-identical hormome replacement usually includes using estriol.
