Is he the one who had Topo Gigo - not that I'm sure I can spell correctly.

Yes, you do wonder about all those military shows made into sit-coms. I sure wish the shows my kids liked were even half as well written as all the ones we grew up with. Now the parents are always stupid - if they are even around and it just seems to be non-sense. Where ever if our shows were not reality there was something to learn or a point of view or some sort of statement or something to think about rather than just getting away with destroying things or embarrassing friends or parents and such. I have tried to get my kids to watch some of the old shows but I guess they are too dated for this instant gratification generation which is very sad. They will try and will humor me but that is about it - they don't actually like it. I did however take my son to see "The King's Speech". He went and was OK about it. Afterwards he said he was really surprised how much he really liked the movie and thought it was really good and not boring like he thought it would be. So there is hope yet!

I agree that today's sit coms make parents look absolutely stupid.  And kids get away with lying and cheating, just to coe with having stupid parents.  At one point we banned the Disney Channel when DS would become rude to us after watching the disrecpectful kids on it.

Senor Wences!   He [edit: the puppet] looks a little like Charro in the face.  Aha-ha-ha!

Topo Gigo's phrase was "Eddie, keees-a me goodnight."  Top Gigo was "Italian" so no relation to Senor Wences.

Oh gosh I ran into an old friend from High School and I know my mouth dropped. She still wears light blue eye shadow!! Now that just isn't one of those looks that should have survived.

Well, I guess I'm just not up to speed on today's eye fashion. I still thought it looked odd - maybe now they have a different shade or do it a little differently like with all the heavy eye liner - well, I guess that is going back to the 60's too. Why can't fashion go back to a more flattering and elegant style? I know comfort wins these days!

When my first child was born I got two nights in the hospital.  By the time my last came, I was in the hospital 12 hours from arrival, birth to discharge.  In my mother's day, a normal birth gave you a minimum of a week in the hospital.  I have no idea what a C-section would give you.

I knew a few people who took that training.  It brought them some awareness, but I was cynical even back then and it seemed hokey to me.

When I was looking at some Valentine's Day images, I found this and remembered how once "Crazy Straws" came out, I did not use a straight straw for years.

Oh all good! I miss all the Variety shows especially Carol Burnett! Loved her! Wish they did reruns of them or even the old talk shows like Mike Douglas - is that right? Phil Donoghue? Loved all those and would adore to see the old Walt Disney that came on 7:00pm on Sunday nights!

DH and I Picked up the first year of SNL and began watching it.  Wow, was I surprised what current events were mentioned and how much the humor can still make us laugh.

My grandmother wore an apron in the kitchen on a daily basis.  My mom wore one occasionally.  I never wore one.  Then, after ruining countless shirts with splattered grease or spaghetti sauce, I got a chef style one that I wear when cooking splattery stuff.  Old fashioned common sense (and fashion sense) makes a comeback!
