MRI tomorrow and I'm worried.
Ok, I bet you have read posts like this galore. But I am worried and I know here is the only place that nobody will think of me as a hypocondriac or a "over-worrier".
I have been having these pains in my lower back, not like pains from the sciatic nerve being pinched, they are actually lower on my back, and my oncologist said that he things it's an inflamed sacro-illiac joint.
It started abotu two weeks before the holidays, and it never went away, it only got worse. I cannot stand up for more than 5 minutes without starting to hurt. Sometimes to the point that I have to take an oxycodone if I want to finish what I'm doing, be it washing dishes or just cleaning the house. Walking for more than 5 minutes is a no-no.
About 10 days ago it started hurting even if I'm sitting or laying down.
My oncologist said that he couldn't feel any problem with my lymph nodes, and he thinks that the type of pain I have would be (hopefully) typical for the inflammation of the sacro-illiac joint.
Please pray for me that my MRI tomorrow shows nothing more serious!

Will be thinking of you.

I will say a prayer for you! Good luck tomorrow!

Hoping they find nothing worrying. Since I have had back problems for 20 years I can tell you there are a lot of things that can cause back pain other than cancer so try not to worry. You certainly have to check it out but make sure you get all the tests and second opinions you can get after the MRI if there is any doubt about what they find. I am having a bone biopsy this week because bone scans, CT scans and MRI scans did not all agree and neither did the radiologists who read them.
Praying for you...

Day, I missed your post until just now. I am hoping that MRI found nothing but some pesky arthritic changes in your sacroiliac joint. Isn't it strange that we say, "Whew! It's just arthritis!", or, "Thank goodness it's only pneumonia!", because of what we've been through?
Hugs, Day... Let us know how it goes.

I hope it will be ok too. They said I'll get the results in a couple days. The MRI itself went fine. I never had problems with it. I just wish they would stop talking to you "this one will go on for 5 minutes" "this time it will be 2 minutes" they kept waking me up.

Just want to join the others and wish you nothing cancer related. Will be sending gentle hugs and all positive thoughts your way. Hang in there, hon.

Thank you so much girls. I knew here nobody would think me a hypochondriac. I'll be soooo worried for two days.

I've got everything crossed for you, hoping for a good result. I've got a bone scan & blood work next week, so I've got some idea of how hard it is to wait. Cheers! Dee

Been there, done that, and everything turned out fine. Horrible back and hip pain for over a year and 1/2 but after multiple MRIs, CTs, X-rays, and PET scans, everything was clear. Pain persisted despite chiro, PT, steroid injections, etc....but I have been completely pain free for the past 2-3 months. I attribute it to the ladies on this board, who responded to my "mets fear" thread by noting that the pain could be caused by my Tamoxifen &/or Lupron and suggested I start taking Fish Oil and Zyflamend (sp?). Those 2 things enabled me to start exercising again, and I really believe they cured my back pain.
Hope that you get an all clear on your MRI!!!

Been thinking of you, Day. I hope you get your results before the weekend. Waiting is so darn hard!!

Ok, I went today and got my MRI report from the hospital.
Good thing - it says clearly - about the lumbar spine - no findings to suggest the presence of metastatic disease. It only shows "mild hyperthropy of the facet joint" int eh vertebrae, but "no significant canal, lateral recess or foraminal stenosis". So that is good.
But - besides the cyst that the PE scan had shown previously - that apparently is not growing or anything - it also says "incompletely visualized are small T2 hyperintensities within both kidneys, which may represent cysts. This could be confirmed with ultrasound, as they were incompletely evaluated on today's examination."
I researched some online, and found that there were onlyvery few cases reported of metastasis of breast cancer to the kidneys, and on the other hand, benign kidney systs are quite frequent after the age of 40.
Can't wait to see my oncologist.
We are expecting here a big mother of a winter storm, that that will have to wait. They are talking about traffic being paralyzed at least until Thursday.

So glad to hear your news! Re the kidney cysts - they are very common and most of the time the only way they are even found is on an MRI or CT scan. My onc said if everyone had scans, MRI's PEt's and CT's - we would all have things found that are not cancer related, nor would ever even cause a problem.

Linda,
Yes, that's what I thought too. On the other hand, I can't wait to take that right ovary out. As weird as it sounds, I decided to take only that ovary out, not both of them. I don't want to go from one scare to another - and the bilateral oophorectomy has quite a few risks down the line. I hope the "middle road" will be beneficial for me. I'm just trying to get the best compromise between treatment and quality of life.

Day,
So glad to hear your results. I searched you out to find them. You might want to post a note on the May2010 Chemo thread because many of the women there are worried about you. Sorry you can't get all the answers right now, but it sounds like the big question about your spine has been answered.

I was going to, Jen. Been busy getting ready for the winter storm comign and then got so worn out I had to take a nap.

I know, Day. I didn't mean to be pushy, it's just that we all care -- a lot.
Snuggle up with your doggies and ride out this big storm. Be safe.
