Six months Tests

 What kind of tests are most of you doing every six months ..I finished my radiation and the doctor wants me to do mammogram,ultrasound and blood test every six months...Is that what required, Iam scared to do mammogram since I been reading that it increase the recurrecnce of breast cancer,I asked the doctor if  I can do MRI  instead and he insisted in the mammogram..

    Hi Frances, I finished radiation about 2.5 years ago and the follow-up proposed at that time was a mamogram at six months and an MRI at one year.  I continue to have a breast exam every six months...a mamogram alternating with an MRI.  I believe the MRI is quite a bit more expensive than the mamogram.  The nurse in my onc's office indicated that insurance may decline to cover the annual MRI in the future.
