Ladie's, I need your help please!!!!!!!!!
OK Ladies, I need some Advice. I am going to see my onc tommorow.
I have talked about this before, but I need a few more thoughts or opinions.
In June I had my ooph, then rads then tamoxifen. Since my ooph and tamox, I have developed
lots of wierd pains . Now I know at 42 to go into post menapose over night could reek some havoc
on my body, that makes since, right? Well the pain has gotton better all over so now its just right upper leg.
Sometimes it will wrap around my side. Comes and goes, but never totally goes away. When I excersise I feel it so I take advil, and it helps. It really is in an odd place, its like upper leg to the side, but will sometimes move to my hip area, bare with me please I know I'm rambleing. I have mentioned this to my bs and onc before. They did not seem alarmed at all, said it was not a common place for bone mets, and that if it were mets the pain would get worse and worse, not come and go. My onc does not really trust blood work, tumor markers ect.. However, won't scan if he does not feel its absolutly needed. I really don't want more radiation, I have had so much, but I think I have become completly obsessed with this
stupid spot of pain in my leg. I will add it does feel a little better when I really stretch it out. I have an excellent onc, I do love him. The problem is, Ladies I don't feel strong enough mentally for more bad news right now. I feel like I am finally moving forward, I like my hair, I feel like everyday I am so grateful to be alive. To be with my kids, and my DH.
Sherri, I know you said to me to xanax up and just do the bone scan, and get some peace of mind. I can't seem to muster up the strength. My concern is they will find somthing. I need to decide by tommorow ! Maybe I could try other x-rays to see if anything suspicious shows up, then have a bone scan. I am freaking out here!
To be totally honest I am more afraid of getting back in that damm chemo chair then any thing in the world right now. I feel good I just want to live. Tell me this pain is nothing, I don't know what to do! Love you all,
thanks my dear sister"s
HELP!!!

Stephanie, I would suggest for you to consider Reiki which will help you to find your inner peace! Also I found listening to healing tapes very helpful. Dr. Andrew Weil, Bernie Seigel, Deepak Chopra, Caroline Myss, I would highly suggest for you to read Caroline Myss, and pick up Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life !.
I have learned that we have far more control over our health than most people are aware of!
Hugs, my dear friend! If is any encouragement to you... I have a dear friend who is 13 years cancer free and she did it totally holistically. No chemo, no rads!!! My suggestions to you are some of what she shared with me!!!

Gosh, I am surprised he won't scan you, seems odd to me.
I had odd weird pain on right side, first around where my liver is and later in various places on my tunny. Did a scan and it showed nothing. Still the pain was there and suddenly BAM GONE! Onc's theory was it was the radiation side so thought it was connected somehow.
I would mention this again to your Oncologist. Tell him you are really concerned and would like a scan to put your mind a ease.
Also, could this be a muscle thing? I do the Pain Free exercises by Pete Egoscue (on the web but you can get the Pain Free book too) that really help joint pain and other pain type stuff from my body being out of alignment.

Stephanie, I've gone thru this too, and after discussing it with my onc and doing a week of scans that turned out clear other than some degenenrative issues and estrogen blocker meds, My onc changed me from Arimidex to Tomoxifen. The bone pain is less severe and in less places now.
Talk to your onc about how you're feeling and let yourself trust him and how he thinks you should deal with it. My Onc give's me the most agressive treatment, and meds to help with SE's but if it still persists and becomes a quality of life issue for me and my DH he has agreed to switch off the Arimidex to Tomoxifen.. Life is less painful now,
Barb

Prior to starting chemo on Dec 22nd, I had to have a liver scan, bone scan and chest x-rays. I had been having bone pain in my left rib and sternum (bc was on left side) so I was very worried. Bone scan showed nothing....and then the pain went away. I wondered if it was due to stress.

My feet had terrible pain when walking after chemo. My toes were numb but every other part of my feet and ankles were killing me. I ask my onc about it and he said the joint pain was from not having estrogen in my system. Ibuprofen did nothing for the pain, so I finally tried Aleve. After two doses, the pain was gone for at least a week. Now when I feel it come back, I take another Aleve and so far one dose will keep the pain at bay for at least 5 days. I've been doing this for about a month now. Hope this helps a little.

Stephanie,
I can relate, like so many other women on these boards! I've had this pain in my left hip for well over a year. I reluctantly had a bone scan about 1 year ago, after dealing with the on and off pain for about 6 months or so. Scan showed arthritis, no mets. Of course I was ecstatic, you feel like you got a new lease on life again... but here I am one year later, pain in my left hip, on and off... can't help but think is it really arthritis or should i have another scan to verify no mets, were they too small last time? will they find something somewhere else... What the heck! I feel your angst. Sometimes I'm not sure how to present things to my onc either and with an appt coming up in the next week or so I start to feel the worry too.
Sorry for rambling.. I guess if you really want to know, get it checked. Sooner is better i'd guess, but really it's a tough world we live in isn't it?
Gentle Hugs my dear,LittleFLower

Reiki for Cancer Pain and Fatigue
Pain and fatigue are almost universal side effects of cancer and cancer treatment. Beginning in the late 1990s, a number of studies found that reiki treatment significantly reduced the fatigue, pain, and anxiety, and improved the overall quality of life in cancer patients. Particularly striking was the reduction in fatigue. This is believed to be a result of the rebalancing of energy in areas of the body experiencing disease and discomfort. Reiki treatments allowed patients to better control their pain and reduce their dependence on conventional pain opiod medications
Incidentally, MD Anderson, Sloan Kettering, and CCTA are all routinely making Reiki available to their patients.
