Does anyone do surveillance for other cancers once they know they have pre-meno bc in the family (2 siblings, no-one else)?

I just have mammo's and ultrasound every year.

I know there's probably many who do some form of ovarian checking but what about colon or stomach cancer, are they thought to be related?

I guess what I'm really wondering is - colonoscopies - are they only done if there is a problem or are they ever done as routine like pap smears are?

I do regular gyn exams including pelvis ultrasound every 6 months.I believe that the pap smears are also done at that time.Recently I have been diagnosed with Barretts esophogus so I'm told that I wil be having regular endoscopic screening. So far I'm still in the early stage of this so it's yet to be seen just what the frequency will be. I have colonoscopy done every 5 years starting at age 60. So far I've had 2 and they were both negative .My LCIS diagnosis gets me mammos.mri, ultrasound once a year and multiple visits to an oncologist throughout the year.

Colonoscopies become routine after age 50 unless there is family hx, a problem, or sometimes a hx of BC.

I have paps with endometrial biopsies and ultrasounds every year, but that is because I am on Tamoxifen.

Nobody in my family had any cancer, I have a vaginal ultrasound every few years and a dermatologist checks my body.

In my ultrasound in November it showed fluid in the pelvic area, I had done the markers for ovarian, came back negative, the ultrasound was repeated this month and last Tuesday I had a D&C to have a biopsy of the emdomitrium, just in case because I took tamoxifen for less than a year, I am waiting the results of pathology, there were no visual signs of cancer. Also I get colonoscopy exam every few years, pap every couple of years .

Unfortunately last Friday my doctor told me I have Basal cell Carcinoma in my face, I have Monday an appointment with a surgeon that specialise in Mohs surgery to have it done asap.

We are at higher risk, and I have a very good follow up plan with my doctors.

Yes, because of a family history of colon and breast cancer, I have a colonscopy every three years.

I do what is appropriate for my age (60):colonoscopy, pap smears, occult blood smears, and yearly visits to the dermatologist for a skin check.

Because there is Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia in the family, my oncologist has also done a baseline on me for certain blood serum proteins.

Hi - this is a good question. I find myself so overly concerned about my breast issue that I skipped my annual gyn visit and I've been meaning to get to derm to check out some freckles on my back.  I think because we have all of these appointments, diagnostics, whatever every 6 months that it's eas to just blow off other appts. I really need to remember to keep it all in balance - thanks!
