Kari=Before long you will be pushing the stroller and moving.
Enough of this snow stuff bring on the warmer weather. Switching to 2nd shift on Tuesday. At least I was on days for 4 this time. Keep moving.
-
kfinnigan: Hats off to you! I am sooooo not ready for a public exercise class. I'm still tight with my elliptical and have put in some time walking but group exercise is wayyyy to scary.
51 hours of labor!! And I think I've been through a lot! Holy Schmoley!! Glad all is well.
-
Kari, I couldn't do an hour, but, loved the idea of that class, I would love getting up to a ballet bar again, is that a local thing?
-
The class was at The Dailey Method (www.thedaileymethod.com) they are in 4 states and in Canada and France (looked on their website). Funny, I went to my chiropractor last night (OMG I am SO sore!!) and told him I used a Groupon (he said what's a groupon?) for 2 exercise classes and he knew it was at The Dailey Method...apparently he has other patients going there. But ladies, 2 classes will be it for me, its out of my price range!
I guess I was way more tired than I thought, cause I fell asleep last night at 7:45! geez, become a granny and play the role I guess, heehee!!
Joy, your snow pics on FB were incredible! I'm really ready for spring myself and I don't live where it snows!
dbdaze, I bet if we went to a class together, you could do it!! I used to LOVE group classes, its just that now I don't belong to a gym or anything to go...after I get some bills paid off, maybe I will look into a local gym.
-
Kari, I giggled at the "take the baby home meltdowns". It will all be fine! We get so little "training" to be parents of a new born. Most important job we have! I remember my first born. Poor girl was like an experiment! The second one, a piece of cake by comparison!
So I took yesterday off. My knees and muscles were sore. Decided 2 hard days over weekend and let my body have a rest. Today, back to the gym with the weights, and 45 cardio minutes! Thinking bike. Hope I remember my reading glasses this time! (the reading material is no good without them!!)
-
Daze is that your blog?
-
Springtime: I DO have a blog now! Remember I told you that one of my posts was on my relationship with the elliptical? Here's a link in case anyone wants to take a peak: Tolerating
I've got another one coming up in a few days to follow up on "Tolerating." I'm sure there will many more to follow those!!! lol
Several of my posts are directed at how bc and the fact that I'm close to becoming an empty nester, is affecting me. But best of all, I found I really enjoy writing -- another thing I've discovered about myself!!
-
Wow, Daze, blogging is for you! I read your Tolerating. I would agree it really does start out more a force of will than anticipating something enjoyable. But the more I do it, the less "ugh" it is. Maybe it's because you get into better shape, or maybe you just get used to it? Or both?
Now, I feel uncomfortable if I skip exercise 2 days in a row. Don't like it. A day off is nice, but then I really feel it's time to get back. This from someone who was formerly a total couch potato!!!
Well I did it! All the weights I do at the gym and 45 minutes on the bike. It said I did like 20 miles so the thing is way out of whack! I have finally found a way to process the magazines around here! I read them on the bike!
-
Springtime: My blogging is interspersed with a lot of humor at times, so don't believe everything you read!! I'm on the elliptical early every morning without fail. I'm much better doing things I don't especially like if I do them consistently. I'm actually afraid to take a day off! lol Perhaps there is hope yet for me -- especially after you confided that you used to be a total couch potato -- I have been having thoughts of adding walking to my activities once the rain lets up. Time will tell!
Thanks for reading my blog! I'm really enjoying it -- it's a great distraction.
-
I'll have to read it too, thanks for pointing that out Spring
Worked out hard last night, little resistance, bands, lot pilates, I'm sore this morning, but it is a good sore. I'm thinking yoga tonight
Spring I'm with you, a day off sometimes feels great and like you cheated, two days in a row I feel fat, sluggish, yuck.
-
dbdaze, love your blog. Is there a woman in the mens bathroom had me on the floor laughing so hard, that is so true
-
90 minutes of Yoga!! I love this class.
-
Happy Thursday everyone! Didn't exercise yesterday, I had a pedicure instead.. They sure help my tired worn out feet after all the walking I do. Plan on walking after work today. The weather is beautiful here in Vegas, I hope it sticks.
-
Pedicure! How nice!! I could use one! Weather in NC is still cold! Ice outside in the bird bath this morning....
-
Got a good workout in last night on treadmill!!
Nice blog dbaze! Wow 9 kids (my DH is one of 9 kids) WOW!!
I like the idea of a pedicure!!
Spring, do you go to yoga once a week? how nice!!
-
Daze, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog! Each entry leaves me wanting to know more!
Well, I was finally able to break out of the inertia I've been experiencing. My left knee still isn't 100%, but I managed to walk 2.5 miles today, which felt really good -- except that my workout pants already feel tighter and 2.5 miles was the most I could do. But it sure beats limping around and feeling crappy. Deanna
-
Deanna, my knees have started to be a little sore. This has me somewhat concerned! I would like to remain active a loooong time since I think it is essential to prevent a recurrence! I have started wondering if I should wear knee braces or those things you slither into... Let me know is you have thoughts on this.
Hi Kari! Yes, I do a yoga class on Wednesday nights and have for YEARS. I wonder sometimes if it saved my life... ha! I try to do it at home, but when working I find it hard to fit in. When not working, I am much better about it, which gives me hope for retirement!
So yesterday DH and I went to see a performance of the Lion King and it was fab! BUT, I did rush out prior and do my weight routine at the gym. No cardio, no time! but I did do the weights!
I count this as a success...
-
It is finally getting warmer and lighter at nights. I got to walk the dog close to 6 and it was still a little light. I sat on the back porch yesterday while the dogs played in the yard. I love it! Still walking the Dd twice a day. Started working on my taxes and see that I am getting a little back so I am thinking that a Wii will be a good investment. Any ideas? I have no clue what to look for. My furture DIL sent me a gift card and so did my roommate from college so I put a down payment on a pearl ring. I miss that ring from all that got stolen a few years back. Guess you can say I'm slowly getting back on my feet. Things do take time! Everyone have a great weekend. I'm working nights and a road trip to Raleigh on Monday.
-
kmmd: isn't humor great? Thanks for reading my blog!
okay, I'm ONLY confessing to you guys but no one else! I missed using the elliptical yesterday. (There I said it) Usually I'm on first thing in the morning but the house was so cold I decided to go back to bed for a little bit. No problem! Until I got a phone call and had to leave in a half an hour's time. Jumped in the shower and went. Now if I had been like many of you, I would have just done my exercise a little later in the day, but change is difficult for me. I tried convincing myself it would be fine to do a 30 minute session in the afternoon to make up, but just couldn't wrap my head around the time change. My body was not about to be fooled. Felt so guilty this morning I added a level AND 5 minutes!!
-
dbaze I saw on your blog that your husband used a catering type service. My sister has one in Bellingham. If you are interested it is called To Your Table or At Your Table. I am not sure how far away you two are from each other. If you would like her number PM me and I'll get it to you.
Going biking with DH today. He is such a sport.
Happy Saturday everyone!
-
Joy, I have noticed it "lightening up" too. I am so glad. I hate it when it's dark before 5PM!! This weekend will be near 60 here, so I am hoping to put a flat of pansies in their pots this weekend! I missed the last warm weekend somehow, so the poor pansies have wintered in their plastic little things from Lowes!
So last night right after work I did 45 minutes on the cross trainer. DH was watching a marathon of DVR'd "Dr. Who"s -- not my fav. But I kept asking questions and he kept pausing to fill me in, soon -- 45 minutes was up!
Today will be gardening, and weights at the gym. Will see how my knees feel and judge the cardio from there. Will report back!
Daze, months and months in Costa Rica?? Wow. Wow. Wow.
-
Dianne: I'm going to PM you -- my husband would love to have the info. Thanks for mentioning it.
Spring: So what are you referring to that you "slither" into for added knee support? Do tell? And, yes, two months in Costa Rica! I've been saving ever since I got back last summer. Also, I've made a bit of money from my crazy downsizing frenzy. My boobs better be ready!!
Deanna: Thanks for the enthusiasm for my blog!! Good for you to get 2.5 miles in -- the weather here in the "GREAT NW" is starting to wear on me -- rain, Rain, RAIN!! I actually feel inspired to walk but not in this weather. It's just me and my elliptical, these days, until the sun breaks out.
Kfinnigan: Yup, nine kids! So does that make me crazy or a saint?? LOL Personally I tend to lean towards the crazy side!!!
Did I mention that I have not stepped on the scales since I began this intimate relationship with my elliptical machine? I am not noticing any difference in my clothes, so I am pretty sure there has been no weight change. Whereas, I must be building up some muscle, I much more excited when I change pant size. I'm afraid I'll quit my exercising if the scales don't reflect a loss sooooo I snubbing the darn thing. I really should hire a personal trainer, like you Spring, who can give me some specific exercises for reducing my weight. Occasionally, I wonder if I could ever reach the point where I have as much anticipation for my workouts as I do my meals! LOL
-
COOL! I also have a blog....
Are you on FB?? I would love to FRIEND you...

Daze, I just meant an elastical knee brace/wrap thing that is like a tube you pull on your knee? ha!
I walked 2.4 miles with DH (beautiful sunny day here, not too cold!) and then did the weights at the gym. Went a little lighter on some for my knees. Also, planted some pansies into their pots! Great day!
-
Hi, all ~ I just returned from a 3 mile walk, which is the furtherst I've walked since hurting my knee. And I was able to keep up a pretty good pace today -- much better than last week.
Daze, one of my neighbors goes to Costa Rica each fall to bring school supplies to a remote 50-student school that she's been supporting now for several years. She brings so much stuff -- enough to fill a backpack for each child, including personal care items and toys, as well as teaching supplies -- things she makes a project of shopping for all year. It's sobering to know how little they have, and inspiring to see what a difference she's made in their lives. Obviously, the kids anxiously await her visit each year. Deanna

45 minutes on the elliptical today.
It was gorgeous and sunny outside. Tomorrow, not so much! Rainy and cold again. But I can feel Spring trying to come!!!
Deanna, is your knee injury from the pocket book incident? I am glad you were able to walk!
-
Hi all. I went for a run yesterday! It was great!! Hope you are all doing well. Sorry about your knee, Deanna.
Everyone have a happy Monday!! It's cold and rainy here.... UGH... we seem to be in this pattern where we get this kind of weather almost daily.... with maybe a break for a day or two of sunshine.

Treadmill for me today. I was just shaking my head looking at a thread with all caps looking for the best doctor in the world. I have to smile because I see that a lot and think, no one ever comes on here and asks for the worst doctor, or an okay and acceptable doctor. Just kind of cracks me up. Seems so redundant, any one asking for advice is going to want the best recommendation.
-
Deanna: We also bring supplies to the Bribri indigenous kids. Most of these kids would never go to school without outside help. The families are so poor, it's a choice between food and school supplies. These are families that make less than $2 a day!! It gives you a whole new perspective.
Still chugging along on Barney, my elliptical machine. I've upped the notch and getting a good sweat going these days.

dbdaze,
Your elliptical is called BARNEY? LOL I call mine the DREADED ELLIPTICAL TORTURE MACHINE!
