marj: I have an appointment tomorrow with the onc I am going to ask about the watery eye thing... and just to let you know the bag of Oreo's are almost gone
Ladyinbama: thanks for the tip I am going to check it out.
Paula: I have not found anything to help me and I have taken a lot of items but each round of chemo it's like trying to give birth for 5 days... it's horrible
-
Tracie you might like this recipe I spotted yesterday:
http://www.beckybakes.net/2011/01/20/oreo-stuffed-chocolate-chip-cookies/
-
Lago: That is like heaven all rolled into one... Thank you !!!!! I will be baking these and i will let you know how they turn out. The only other Oreo I have had is deep fried and I can say it was almost as good as sex
-
Oh man lago, I think I'll have to try these even though I know they're evil!
-
Ah Lago...they are truly beautiful!! I can almost smell them!
-
Amazing. Food pictures here and on facebook always get the most responses.
-
We are so easily manipulated!
-
Iago!!!! BIG GIANT "O" FACE!!!!
Maybe if I go down and look in my kitchen, they'll just magically be there, lol
-
marjie you picture is so beautiful!!! You look amazing
-
Paula: I'm sorry, it's not funny, but I laughed when I read your post. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone who had constipation and diahrea at the same time.
Iago: All I can say is OMG ...

I hate to switch the topic from cookies to hemorrhoids but...
I finished chemo in March, Herceptin at Thanksgiving. I am now having to see a dr. about these hemorrhoids that I got during chemo. Nothing is working so I am leaning towards surgery. That is the last thing I want but I am totally uncomfortable...
-
awww tracie - thank you! I thought I should update it from the old perky pre-BC pic I was using. I mean really....eyebrows are overrated don't ya' think?
-
ok back to poop.....
-
marjie, my right eyebrow is half gone and my left is just hanging on.... LOL I thought my mascara was defective but it's only becuse I have about 5 elelashes per eye
I am so HOT !!!!
-
Tracie you have FIVE eyelashes???? No fair!! Looking good, lady - celebrate those partial brows
-
I have several, maybe 8, eyelashes on my right eye and TWO eyelashes on my left eye. My right eyebrow is also thicker than my left. I wonder why the hair would grow differently on each side of my face? I'm so fricked up I look like a Picasso painting
-
Tracie, I'm Trips Neg and started with TAC all together, after 2 extended hospital stays we changed and did just AC for 4 rounds. Then 6 rounds of "The Taxotere" by itself, was also told about "cakewalk" which I seemed to miss because just as you explained, everything from fatigue, flu to finger/toe nails making it excruiating to do much of any thing. I have 2 more to get through and hopefully this nightmare will end soon. Looking forward to Spring 2011 hopefully back to some level of normalcy...
Nulasta was part of the worse for me in the early stages, so I'm guessing that the first 2 rounds set my expectations and I'm not so much complaining (or at least trying not to) about the Taxotere.
Best of luck...Kathy

LadyinBama - Picasso! I love it
.
-
Lady- ditto what marjie said!

Hi Tracie,
I think I have all of the same se as you. I get my 2nd infusion of Taxotere next week. The last one kicked my butt from day 2 - 8. I get really bad bone pain along with the inability to sit still. My legs are going all the time. Can't eat, sleep or even sit to relax. I thought it was the neulasta because I had it after AC treatments too but not as bad as this last one. I can't wait until treatments are over and now after reading the other posts....I'm really worried it is only going to get worse. Is this an experimental drug? I thought it has been around a long time. My tumors were on the outside of my breasts and they totally dissappeared after AC. I don't even know why I'm doing more chemo. I get my surgery on April 6th and can't wait for the end of this journey. Good luck with your next treatment. I'm getting Lucky Charms for next week.
Take care,
Nancy

Nancy & Tracie - I had an awful experience with my first taxotere. The body aches were just so overwhelming but I didn't get hit until day 4or5 I think. For my second tx, the onc increased my dexamethasone from three days at full pop to nine days with the dose decreasing every 3 days. I had very little noticeable discomfort at all and let me tell you I had the cleanest house going as I burned off all the extra energy. Now in the last week of my cycle before my next and last tx, I am extremely fatigued but I can deal with that!
I know in Canada we may have a different regime/approach to cancer treatment but it's definitely worth asking about if you can get some relief.

Tracie, you are toooo funny! You always make me smile. Your new pic is soooo cute! You have hair!! I would post my baldness, but I have such a little pin head, I am sure you all would wonder where I keep my brain. LadyinBama, I am officially not constipated no runs either. So good to be normal?? Sorry, I don't know what that is anymore.
My eyelashes are down to about twelve on one side and only 1/2 eye on the other side. Talk about Picasso..I was going to make time to go get the falsie lashes and decided to just go heavier on the eyeliner and mascara. Going for that really hot smoky chemo eye..LOL.
Margie, I swear you are so beautiful without hair!! Love the new pic.
Tonlee, you had inspired me to be careful with the carbs. I was so good for two days, then that chocolate brownie whispered "eat me"..well who could resist an invitation like that? I'm with Tracie..good chocolate is almost as good as sex! Yum...
-
OMG, I am so glad to hear I am not the only asymetrical person out there! My right eyebrow is barely there but my left eyebrow is still hanging in. On my left eye there are eyelashes on the sides but absolutely nothing in the middle. I have very little hair on my head, my legs and down south are smooth as silk but guess what??? I have a zillion hairs growing . . . on my chin!!! WTH?!?!?! I am trying not to complain because the only real SE I have had on Taxotere thus far is swelling. I really am looking forward to looking somewhat normal again though!
My last treatment is March 23. Come on March!!!!

Lago: I mad the choc chip oreo cookie... it was very good except with my odd taste buds I could only taste the Oreo. My my husband loved it. Marj had named it the Official Breast Cancer Cookie When I am back to normal ( if I will ever be back to normal
) I am going to make it again when I can taste all of it. Thank you for the recipe.
Heading to Chemo today after today I only have ONE MORE !!!!!! I am so happy. I will keep you all posted as to how this one goes. Have a wonderful day ladies.
Paula: I am sure you have a beautiful head. I had HUGE hair before all this and when we shaved it we couldn't believe how small my head really was all the hats , wigs etc... are to big so I had to get layers removed so the wigs would fit and the hats I bought a hat heightner to fill them in otherwise they hung over my eyes
OH weill I shall soon have big Texas hair again
-
Paula,
Who can resist brownies? I can't! If you knew what a chocoholic I am you'd laugh....I literally have to keep it out of the house (and with 2 kids who also love chocolate, what are those odds?)
Ok, my legs are back to normal. I don't know if it is time, or if the following helped...but if you have swelling in your legs you can try it and see if it works for you..
For two mornings:
1. I drank two cups of coffee (I am generally off coffee because it doesn't taste right, but I found Hills Bros Double Chocolate Mocha Latte (instant) and WHOA! YUM! 110 calories/3.5 gms fat).
Coffee is a diuretic. Not like a water pill but milder, and it gives a kick in the pants for part two.
2. After a cardio workout, I did 100 squats (50 toes pointed forward, and 50 toes pointed out to work inner thigh). I did them slow and with weights, but w/o is good too. Then I stretched my legs really well for 10 minutes.
This morning I woke up and the swelling is completely gone (my inner thigh is a little sore though, YAH!).
I won't lie, the first day with the swelling in my thighs, they didn't want to move right during the squats. They were tight and puffy. But I made them work almost to exhaustion anyway. Really working the muscles seemed to squeeze the excess fluid right out of them. Or maybe it was just time to lose it.
Just wanted to put that out there in case it helps....

Nice to know that cookie recipe is good. I have my own special recipe. I made these for the chemo nurses. When I spoke to my onc on the phone not too long after that she told me they were delicious. I have made them with my taste buds off. Not bad but do taste better when taste buds are in check.
Chocolate chip, oatmeal, banana peanut butter cookies. If anyone is interested in the recipe let me know:
I read in an article yesterday (wish I could find it) that the focus lately had been in reduced fat diet at the expense of people eating more carbs. This is what is contributing to fat America. Foods with fats fill us up more. Granted there are good fats (olive oil, avocados) and bad fats (bacon, deep fried anything) so you still need to be smart about your choices.
I haven't experiemented with whole wheat flour. I'm thinking of trying that in the future. I do know that when I added banana to my cookie recipe I cut out a 1/2 stick of margarine. Banana is better for you than butter or margarine IMO plus it tastes better.
Wait this is supposed to be a thread about Taxotere. Oops.
-
Lago: taxotere and cookie... it's a much better combo I think... I will take your cookie reciepe
-
Tracie I did three FEC followed by three taxotere (which is also when I started Herceptin). I finished in March 2008 and it is now a distant (bad) memory. I had every blessed SE mentioned above. I also did two different chemos in 2002/03 for ovarian cancer. Of all the chemos I have had Taxotere is by far the absolute worst thing I have ever endured. I actually passed out twice but was able to lay down beforehand because I could feel it coming on.
I too had the watery eyes. My eye would squirt when I blew my nose! Really attractive. I happened to have an eye appointment with an opthamologist at that time and mentioned it to him but he didn't clue in that the Taxotere had caused it. He thought I might have a blocked tear duct. Of course once the drug stopped the water eyes stopped as well.
Anyway my dear, good luck with the treatments and hopefully it will all be a distant memory for you too.

tracie you have a PM
