My MRI led to a bone scan and a CT scan.

Something tiny lit up on my liver and on my sternum. My BS said this is normal, MRI's pick up a lot of benign tissue, fatty tissue and nodules. Is she feeding me a line? But we are doing these extra tests because it was noted on the MRI. She said DCIS does not travel and not to worry about this. This new development has me upset. Is that true, MRI's pick up things that are not a threat?

    My sister had an MRI and they saw spots on her liver and I forget what they were but it ended up being nothing. Once your diagnosed with BC they just don't take any chances and do the test just to be on the safe side.

     DCIS is very contained and noninvasive at that stage. Take a breath...try to not stress too much before the tests are done.

    rianne, I had an MRI last spring (post-treatment) that picked up something on my liver. I also had a PET/CT that showed my liver was clear (PET/CT was planned before the MRI results).

    You'll see on my signature line that I'm Stage IV but the mets are not to organs. That same PET/CT showed mets to my sacrum (bone only mets).

    I did not have DCIS at original dx; I was Stage III. I only wante to point out that MRIs can pick up "stuff" that is nothing.

    I literally just went through a similar experience last week.  Had an MRI which showed an incidental finding of a small lesion on my liver and a small lesion on my thoracic spine.  I was completely flipping out. I had an ultrasound of the liver, it was just an innocent cyst, and same thing with the spine, just an hemangioma.  It's true, MRIs pick up all kinds of incidental things.  My BS told me not to worry, and he was right. So your BS is right, this is normal.  It is absolutely most likely nothing.  I'll be thinking of you :)

    I had an MRI two weeks ago - the day before I had the biopsies done. It said there was a 9mm mass in my anterior mediastinum and recommended a chest CT. I go for the CT tomorrow and I really hope it's nothing.
