Please enlighten us. What propaganda have we referred to?
Thank you.
-
I repeat - instead of just admitting that Bachmann screwed up, the right will make this into some liberal conspiracy.
-
Yes Alpal
Once again they say "These are not the droids you are looking for."
Do they forget the line "Your Jedi tricks do not work on me."
Edited for error
-
Don't forget the koolade.
-
LJ .. I'm curious too about what propaganda you think I'm listening to. I was watching the only news channel last night that aired Bachmanns speech. I also read the transcript this a.m.
I also watched the youtube where she got all her facts wrong about American history. I only commented on her exact speech in both cases.

As we are doing book recommendations, how about Arianna Huffington's "Third World America: How Our Politicians Are Abandoning the Middle Class and Betraying the American Dream".
While you are reading that, take a peak at what Rand Paul's vision for American is.

I can't even look! I bet squirrel is in there somewhere!

If absolute Free Speech is a right, how is anything that is written unconstitutional?
-
Alpal, you do not wanna know.

Oh no! Possum??

What have I said that is any one of the things on your list? Or are you talking about people in general. If so I couldn't agree with you more.

Shirley - you can post all the loooong articles you want - Bachmann screwed up royally in her little treatise on slavery. Do you believe the founding fathers were alive and fighting slavery during the civil war? It was all so long ago it just kind of runs together, doesn't it. Those libs are so hung up on details. She and her supporters need to fess up and say, "Sorry, I got mixed up". But, no, they'll try to find some lib conspiracy to blame it on. At least, Katie Couric will be safe this time.
LOL, Alpal. You didn't read what I posted. I didn't expect you to. However, if you had just scanned over it like a speed reader you would have seen what she meant by the Founding Fathers fought for the end of slavery. They fought with words. I'm learning stuff too. Do you know what the 3/5 of a person meant when it came to slaves? I'm not afraid to confess that I have forgotten MUCH of history. It was not a big interest of mine, but I want to know more so I can help my grandchildren who are so young. I want them to know the truth.

I think this is hilarious. So, Adriana is so smart. Her book should have been called (andI have to admit I haven't read it, but sure as heck see that title as) How the Free American People Have Become Victims. Take your "victim" mentality away and find some real history.
Why are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many people wanting to immigrate here if it's so darned bad. Why have Cubans lost their lives to come here? Why have Mexican lost their lives to come here?
Give a man/woman a chance to make a dime and they will. Employment was under 5% when Bush was in office until the housing bubble burst!
-
Actually Shirley, I did read what you posted. Usually, I don't but I made an exception this time because I am very interested in history. The fact remains - Bachmann screwed up. If she meant our founding fathers were trying to find a way to abolish slavery, then that's what she should have said.
-
It's those darn lightbulbs, isn't it?
-
ljh:
Lieberman is certainly not left he's on the Right - guess you don't understand your politics down there - also when are you righties going to stop trying to stuff the 1700s down everyone's throats and get to modern times - you know single payer health care, environmental responsibility etc. then you won't have to worry about clogging your children's brains - except with the southern cooking which I am alas so fond of.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa Sandy,
When are you lefties going to get with the times and realize our country is financially broke and can't afford your lefty gimmies any more??? We will have nothing to give our children.
-
Who in the government told us which lightbulbs to buy? I can still buy any kind I want here. Just wanted to know what Bachman was referring to in her speech.
-
This information is from wikipedia, not a source I would normally quote, but it was a pretty comprehensive listing of the coming changes to lightbulbs.
California will phase out the use of incandescent bulbs by 2018 as part of bill by California State Assembly member Jared Huffman (D-Santa Rosa) that was signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on October 12, 2007. The bill aims to establish a minimum standard of twenty-five lumens per watt by 2013 and sixty lumens per watt by 2018.[24][25]
Connecticut legislation was proposed by state Representative Mary M. Mushinsky (D-Wallingford).[26][27]
New Jersey Assemblyman Larry Chatzidakis introduced a bill on February 8, 2007 that calls for the state to switch to fluorescent lighting in government buildings over the next three years. Chatzidakis said, "The light bulb was invented a long time ago and a lot of things have changed since then. I obviously respect the memory of Thomas Edison, but what we're looking at here is using less energy."[28]
[edit] Federal legislation
In December 2007, many of these state efforts became moot when the federal government enacted the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, which requires all general-purpose light bulbs that produce 310-2600 lumens of light[8] be 30% more energy efficient (similar to current halogen lamps) than current incandescent bulbs by 2012 to 2014. The efficiency standards will start with 100-watt bulbs in January 2012 and end with 40-watt bulbs in January 2014.
Light bulbs outside of this range are exempt from the restrictions (historically, less than 40 Watts or more than 150 Watts). Also exempt are several classes of specialty lights, including appliance lamps, rough service bulbs, 3-way, colored lamps, and plant lights.
By 2020, a second tier of restrictions would become effective, which requires all general-purpose bulbs to produce at least 45 lumens per watt (similar to current CFLs). Exemptions from the Act include reflector flood, 3-way, candelabra, colored, and other specialty bulbs.[29]
-
I know California has some rules, but that's a state thing - no one can blame that on Obama. No rules in KY but our utility company sends us free ones to encourage us to use them. They last forever and use less energy. What's not to like?
-
Thank you Pat.
I will look for another source as Wikipedia is not always accurate.
-
Alpal .. I wish my energy company would send me so of those free long lasting light bulbs.
-
I think they're trying to ease us into using them. I didn't know there was a federal bill passed in 2007 - thanks Patmom. I guess Ms Bachmann thinks Bush should have vetoed that bill. Wonder how she feels about things like speed limits on federal highways? Wait, maybe she's against federal highways!
-
I missed the date on that Alpal. I think it is strange she brought up legislation that was passed while Bush was prez. I wonder if he thought a veto would be overturned.
-
So what's for dinner? I am going to marinate a flank steak in a minute. I don't know what sounds good with it.
-
Why didn't Bush veto that bill? I am aware there's a mercury problem. Of course I can remember playing with a broken thermometer. Yikes!
-
Still no answer as to why if it was a bad bill it was not vetoed. I know how to clean up a broken CFL bulb. I have never broken one though because I have never had to change one of the ones I have put in.

He was no friend to liberals either. Who elected him?
