Inflammatory Breast Cancer

My daughter is 17 and has had a red spot the size of an orange on her breast for about five weeks. A punch biopsy revealed only dermatitis. The doctor prescribed a cream which she has been applying for over a week now and there is no change. Has anyone received an incorrect diagnosis from a biopsy and should I schedule an appt. for her with a specialist? Anyone this young that has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer?

SJK, so sorry your and your daughter are having to go through this. The youngest person dx with IBC was 12 years old. I would call the Dr and let him know that the cream is not working and is there something else he can do? What kind of Dr did you go see? Has her breast done any other changes. Is it hard, has the skin dimpled like a orange, does she have sharp pains coming though, etc. I would request to go see a breast surgeon and see what they can tell you.

Also, is the breast hot and swollen?
