Jo, God answered your prayer for me immediately yesterday. I heard a song that I have heard before, but the words were illuminated for me like never before. I have been given "a new song" to sing in my heart. It is This is Home by Switchfoot. They are the sons of my pastor in CA. This song is from the soundtrack of Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis's allegorical story of Christianity.

    "This Is Home"

    I've got my memories
    Always inside of me
    But I can't go back
    Back to how it was
    I believe you now
    I've come too far
    No I can't go back
    Back to how it was

Created for a place I've never known

    [Chorus]
    This is home
Now I'm finally where I belong
    Where I Belong
    Yeah, this is home
I've been searching for a place of my own
    Now I've found it
    Maybe this is home
    This is home

    Belief over misery
    I've seen the enemy
    And I won't go back
    Back to how it was
And I got my heart set on what happens next
I got my eyes wide it's not over yet
We are miracles and we're not alone

    [Chorus]

And now after all my searching
    After all my questions
    I'm gonna call it home
I've got a brand new mindset
I can finally see the sunset
    I'm gonna call it home

    [Chorus]

    Now I know
    Yeah, this is home
    I've come too far
    And I won't go back
    Yeah, this is home

I was about 13 yrs. old when the musical "Godspell" became popular. Many of the tunes immediately spoke to my young mind.

The simplest:  "Day by Day" has resounded with me over the years.

Yesterday it popped up on my ipod as I walked on my treadmill and I just began to weep.  I have not really cried since my Dx.  I was not crying yesterday because I have BC, but because of the depth of the these simple lyrics, how they apply to me so intensely at this time:

Day by day, day by day

Oh, dear Lord, three things I pray:

    To see Thee more clearly

    Love Thee more dearly

    Follow Thee more nearly

    Day by day.

I began to weep because, certainly, as I face a stage iv dx, I feel that much closer to my God.  And even tho I may not want this upon myself, I do still love God more now than ever, He does not abandon us in our tough times.

But when I began to sing "See Thee more clearly"......I see God in everyone around me.  My husband, son, sisters, brothers, ect, who are taking the news hard, people me and my husband work with who are so supportive, my son's friends and their families also helping out,  those people on the medical end, people I've had to deal with day in and day out about different issues involving my dx.....I am almost rendered motionlessly in awe by all the goodness the Lord puts in our lives.

I want to say, I have been a person extremely appreciative of my many blessings for many many years.  But those blessings are thousand-fold and more now.

    GENTLE WOMAN, QUIET LIGHT
MORNING STAR SO STRONG AND BRIGHT
    GENTLE MOTHER, PEACEFUL DOVE
TEACH US WISDOM, TEACH US LOVE

YOU WERE CHOSEN BY THE FATHER
YOU WERE CHOSEN FOR THE SON
YOU WERE CHOSEN FROM ALL WOMEN
AND FOR WOMAN, A SHINING ONE

    (REPEAT REFRAIN)

    BLESSED ARE YOU AMONG WOMEN
BLESS IN TURN ALL WOMEN TOO
    BLESSED THEY WITH PEACEFUL SPIRITS
    BLESSED THEY WITH GENTLE HEARTS

I, the Lord of sea and sky I have heard my people cry All who dwell in dark and sin My hand will save. I who made the stars and night I will make the darkness bright Who will bear my light to them Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night I will go Lord If you lead me I will hold your people in my heart. I the Lord of snow and rain I have borne my people's pain I have wept for love of them They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone Fill their hearts with love alone I will speak my word to them Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night I will go Lord If you lead me I will hold your people in my heart. I will hold your people in my heart...

I will never forget you my people,
I have carved you on the palm of My hand,
    I will never forget you,
I will not leave you orphaned,
I will never forget my own...

Does a mother forget her baby,
Or a woman the child within her womb,
    Yet even if these forget,
    Yes even if these forget,
I will never forget my own.

I will never forget you my people,
I have carved you on the palm of My hand,
    I will never forget you,
I will not leave you orphaned,
I will never forget my own...

Does a mother forget her baby,
Or a woman the child within her womb,
    Yet even if these forget,
    Yes even if these forget,
I will never forget my own.

Twyla Paris' "God is in Control"..."this is no time for fear...this is the time for faith, and determination"

God is in control, we believe that his children will not be forsaken

God is in control, we will choose to remember and never be shaken

There is no power above or beside Him we know...ohhh

    God is in control.

    God is in control.

    Thy holy wings, dear Saviour,
    spread gently over me;
and through the long night watches
    I'll rest secure in Thee,
    Whatever may betide me,
    be Thou my hiding place,
and let me live and labour
each day, Lord, by Thy grace.

    Thy pardon, Saviour, grant me,
    and cleanse me in Thy blood;
    give me a willing spirit,
a heart both clean and good.
    O take into Thy keeping
    Thy children great and small,
    and while we sweetly slumber
    enfold us one and all.

I have a favorite by Mary J. Blige called "Hard Times Come Again No More".  It is an old Steven Foster song written in the 1800's and recorded by Blige for the "Hope for Haiti Now" album.  The song and/or the album are available on iTunes - you must hear it.  It transports me every time I listen to it.
