8 weekly taxol?????????

Options

my onc has let me choose. either dose dense taxol every 2 weeks x4, or, 8  weekly taxol. He said I will not have as many side effects due to the lower dose. Now I have heard of 12 weekly taxols. he said usually it is paired with herceptin. I am extrememely ER/PR+ (95%), and HER2-. I will be doing rads, and on hormone therapy  for 5 years. I just got done with DD AC, (yay!) and will be starting taxol in about a week and a half.

Any thoughts? Maybe I am reading too much into it. I just don't want to give this cancer any chance to reoccur. but at the same time i don't want to take any more chemo than is necessary. Believe me, when I got told a month would be shaved off my chemo time, I was elated, but I question it a little.

Thank you in advance,

Angel

hdangelbaby-  I did DDAC and just finished 12 weekly Taxol. My cancer is TN so my doctor wanted to hit it hard I think. I didn't have to much SE from the weekly Taxol. The only thing was on day 3, I had aches in my upper body but just for 1 day and then I felt fine. No nausea and my hair started to grow back in the middle of the treatment, about taxol #5Laughing.  For the last 3 taxol, the bed of my nails started to hurt more. For the last one I asked the nurse to put my fingers in ice during the treatment and it helped because today is day 3 and they don't hurt to bad.

    Good luck.

Angel...if you are done with DD A/C. Taxol is not that bad.

I did 4 DD Taxol and SE were minimal comparing with A/C

Again we all react differently to chemo.

    Good Luck to you.
