Ok, I will try to repeat what the oncologist said. The MRI showed no malignancy, however, because there is so little breast tissue, they (radiologist) recommended an ultrasound. I think that's good news! My oncologist referred me to see my breast surgeon, and said he will call him to make sure I get in ASAP. He said they will probably try to get me in this week, which would be Friday because that's the only office hours they have left-other days are surgery days.

So I will call the breast surgeon's office first thing in the morning and beg for an appointment, and see if he will order an ultrasound prior to me even getting in. My oncologist also said he will "probably want a piece of it". I honestly would prefer for it to be biopsied.

Thanks for all the well wishes and cyber hugs-I'll keep you posted!

I am so glad that everyone is marshalling their troops to get things moving as efficiently as possible -- and also that they are obviously being zealous in their respect of getting to the bottom of the mystery.

Good news on the feedback from the MRI. We'll take that as good news, indeed.

    Holding you close in prayer.

I'm so glad that you have such a good team.

Dear dmho, We're glad you're here....just so you know, we all had our mastectomies January of last year (2010)....you can learn a lot from what we've gone through.....You are welcome to stay here, ask us anything you want, etc......but I wanted you to know that there *is* a thread for those having mastectomies THIS January (2011).  They will be going through what you're going through *when* you are going through them.....this group formed last year as we were all going through our MX together, and we found a great deal of comfort in that.

As I said, you can learn from our experiences....but you will find a comfort also in being with those going through this at the same time....look for January 2011 Mastectomies////

    Blessings....robin

    Hi Team,

I was away from my home for about 8 days. I actually travelled to Florida for a family wedding (from Israel).

I read the last 2 pages without breathing.

{{{{Kim}}}} I'm so glad to read about the MRI results. I hope you get peace of mind as soon as possible. I really believe we already had enough not for one year but for a long life time.

    Cathy - YAY!!

Debbie - happy for your success!

This last trip I took changed me a little. This week I felt strangely (but good) detached from BC.

I thought about it of course. There is not a day that goes by that I don't. But my thoughts were different. I felt deeply that I am over this. I guess it is like a wave and I will again feel the terror, after a test or feel a lump or who knows what, but for now I feel a little lighter.

I took my 8 year old daughter with me. This is the first time we spend a week alone (without  DH) and it was perfect. This was one of my resolutions after BC. More time with my daughter and family and less time on my career.

Health and no more worrying for us!!

Just wanted you to know that I am sending you strength and encouragement for this day, for this weekend, for the whole process.

Know that we are all holding you very close in our hearts and our prayers.

Hoping and praying that everyone you encounter today is brilliant, professional, kind and supportive-to-the-max.

Will be eager to hear from you when you are able.

Hugs all around the Team, as we each have so much to experience in the month of January.

    (((((((((Team January))))))))))))

I keep hoping that we'll have reports from team members we haven't heard from in a while. Know that we are cheering for every member of the team!!!!

OK, it only took an hour of waiting but I finally saw my BS  He had already talked to my oncologist and reviewed the MRI.  Took a quick look at it, and wants it out.  Said because of the implants he doesn't believe in putting a needle in there.  So!  I'm set for an excisional biopsy on Monday at flippin' 6:30 in tne morning--that's a check in time of 5am.  My  husband almost died when I told him.  He will have to go to work after he brings me back home, so he's gonna be a hurting unit.

I'm comfortable with having it out.  I'm not so excited about another surgery and being put to sleep, but it is what it is.  They will obvoiusly analyze it on the spot, which is another bonus.  I can leave the hospital knowing exactly what it is.

Again!  Thank you for all the hugs and well wishes-I'm sure I will have good news on Monday!

((((Kim)))  I wish it were better news, but I will continue to pray over the weekend all will go well on Monday.  As bad as a 5 am check in may be, waiting to do it late in the day might be worse.  No food, no water.  I remember my mx was not until 3:30!  I was NPO after mid-night!  It was a LONG day.  At least you can get this over with early in the day.

Kim, Sorry you have to go through this...argh.  It *will* be hard to get up and out that early, but as BC said, it will be easier food-wise, not having to wait....Hopefully the place won't be too large, and you'll heal quickly.  You know, it's amazing how quickly our bodies do heal.  I went in for my 6 week post-op check (hysterectomy) today...and my scars are healing nicely....two small ones at the lower end of my trunk to match the long ones at the top end of my trunk.  Before last January, I had never been cut on in my life (well, except for the biopsy and lumpectomy a few weeks before, but the BMX took those scars away..ha!)

Sounds as if you'll be in thoughts and prayers all over the globe....so God is hearing your name from all over :)

    blessings to you and yours....robin

Kim, of course we all hate that you are having to go through this again, but I'm glad that everyone is giving this their full attention and concentration and moving the process forward with speed and precision.

Keep telling yourself that being first is a good thing -- for all the reasons already spelled out above. I think not having to have an extra wakeful day of concern works to your advantage.

It's great that you'll know details on Monday.

It's great that there is a plan.

I always feel better with a plan (even when I don't like the plan, or hate having to have a plan) to me the 'limbo' has always been the most challenging.

So have a delightful distracted weekend..........

Today is my oldest's 14th birthday.   My oh my, she is getting old :)  We will have presents and cheesecake and ice cream today, followed by the Stellers' football game....great birthday for her !  She is hoping for a Steelers' win, it will be her favorite gift :)

Yesterday, she broke her left, ring finger during a basketball game.  The doctor said it is broken into the knuckle and we will have to follow up with an ortho.  He doesn't 'think' it will require surgery.  He did say she will probably have a lot of stiffness and arthritis in it as an adult :(  She is just happy because she gets out of band practice for at least a week.  Can't play the oboe with one hand !

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

     Never Surrender !

    Hello neversurrender,

Let me start by saying this is my first post and have the read your first post, before and imme. after surgery.  I am scheduled for a DIEP on January 31 and really enjoyed your post. I now have a sense of what to expect. I am having reconstruction on the left breast.  Dr. Jobe Fix is my PS in Birmingham.  I am traveling 4 hours to and from. You mentioned earlier that traveling was not ideal...WHy? SHould I prepare a van to travel because of the stoamch surgery. I will remain in the Birmingham location for a week but afterwards I will need to go home and be taking care of.

You also mentioned something about the nipple reconstruction but I couldnt find the rest of the post. How did it go? I found a post where there is a tattoo shop that specialize in nipple reconstruction? Are your breast "pirky" after surgery? Also, I was told by my PS that I will have a flat stomach but the rolls in my back would remain. Tell me more about the healing process of your stomach and the look of it now.  I too just recetly lost 40lbs and currently weigh 190 lbs which the problem area is my abdomin area. THe PS say that I am "perfect" size for this surgery. Please elaborate.

Again I have read your notes and you have wonderful tips. I really do appreciate your information:)

Hi codysmile:  You are welcome here, but please know we all had surgery January of 2010.  There is another thread going for those with surgery January 2011.  You can find it here:

    http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/91/topic/761678?page=11#post_2193569

There is also another one for people doing DIEP reconstruction:

I think there are some on tattoing as well, but I had nipple sparing mx so can't help you on that one.

I wish your well in your surgery and hope you recover quickly!

    Deep breathing required here........

I jsut returned from my dentist.  On my xrays this time, a 'mass' has appeared in my jaw bone.  The most likely cause of this would be traumatic injury to the jaw bone, which I have never had.  Apparently, BC makes its return in the jawbone sometimes, so my dentist is 'a little' concerned.  I will now be having a biopsy of the jawbone.......the fun never stops.

    Oh My Goodness Sally!

Well, we just must be optimistic that it's something competely different than that.  I would venture to say that our health care professionals are as nervous as we are and therefore will go out of their way to make sure they have covered all their bases.

    Breathing deep with you!

Ok, I'm back and a lot calmer.  It was just hearing my name in the same sentence as biopsy made me come a little unhinged :)   The earliest I can get in for the biopsy is March - I'm sure I'll come unhinged a few more times before then.
