Ang .. Yay!  What kinds of dogs do you have?  I have a beagle/bassett mix who looks like a bassett with short ears, a border collie and a black lab.  My lab is only a year old so he's still so funny just like a puppy!  My basset mix is about 14 years old now .. and getting kind've cranky!

I've been wanting a rottweiler puppy for so long.  That will have to wait though ... we're short on indoor space, but I've got lots of fenced acreage for them to play outside.

    Bren~

We have a Newfy mix (our cranky old guy), a Border Collie mix and a Papillon mix.

My teens volunteer for dog rescue and that is how we got our gang of mixes.

If it was up to my daughters we would have many more...

    Bren -

Those are all our dogs- three bulldogs. They're great to have around;really cute personalities. The brown one in the back loves to shake hands and give high fives. I don't know why. The darker one in the middle has a pretty good trick. I say to her "Would you rather be a Republican or a dead dog?" and she flops over with her feet in the air. ( For all of the Republicans out there, I can substitute the word Democrat and she still flops over - she seems to be pretty apolitical.)

Our little furry friends are so fun, aren't they?

Sandy .. that is so funny about your dog rolling over with his feet in the air.  What a great trick.  Mine will "shake" hands with you but that's about it.

Ang .. I bet your newfy mix is pretty furry! And Big!

I love my little buddies .. they keep me company while Tim is on the road.

Hello, everyone - popping in briefly (I think) only because I completed my final reconstruction surgery which was more of a quick nip-tuck to make everything look even better, and the Percocet is keeping me up.

BCO has NOT handled these deletions well. They are bad because they make us forget. When you have a long, controversial thread, you learn what there is, what has been said and what you can leave behind, meaning anything from political topics discussed to name calling.

Without a record, the past is lost, confusion, anxiety and bitterness set in and the scenery is ripe for new outbursts.

Why are we women such annoying consensus enforcers?

I hereby "sign" a petition to ask Melissa to treat us like adults, learn to take a little hit and STOP deleting entire threads. If BCO is so worried about its reputation: welcome to the real world.

Yes, Melissa, we CAN have such "behavior" on the threads. You can delete POSTS if you like; just not threads.

To many of you fellow sisters, as Timtam so aptly says, hello, have a great 2011, hugs.

Blue, I still might start my major comorbidities thread on BCO one day - that is, if it doesn't get deleted. I'm crazy. Ooooh how controversial. Someone might call me a nutcase and I might cry and Melissa might wipe my "tears" by wiping away the thread. Tremble, be girly and wear pink because we are such fragile little things in this female-led sexism.

    So here is my petition:

    Name: ":Athena"

    Age: Adult

Should entire threads be deleted? NO

Athena .. so glad to see you.  Hope you're feeling better this morning!

I do agree with you .. I would prefer not to see entire threads deleted.  It's impossible to recapture all that information.

The 'politics' threads aren't the only threads with problems on this site.  People are getting deleted on other threads as well.

As far as seeing the IP addys of members here, of course it's possible.  I had a small web site in the past, and I was able to check all IP addys to ensure no one was using multiple ID's.

I hate the deletions. It tries to make what happened disappear and that is not possible. People have been encouraged and yes had their feelings hurt but that is all part of the history of the group..

I would love a major comorbidity thread

Athena, glad to see you back again but I think you have missed the point.  This is not about Melissa deleting too many off topic threads or obscenities etc.  It is about certain cowardly bullies from another site who seem to enjoy harassing good people on this site and deleting their posts just for the "fun" of it and the fact that they can get away with it.  Melissa knows exactly what is going on and even who these people are and yet she lets it continue.  WE are not breaking the rules of this site, the troublemakers are and yet Melissa lets THEM get away with it and continue it and punishes us by letting "them" delete us.  Please notice the latest deletion was "by community".  Not by Moderator.

Melissa told us days ago she was going to speak to, "techs" I think about securing this thread for us so we can find out who the deleters are.  Ha! Ha!  They change IDs quicker than I change my drawers!  Then they run back to their "main" site to hide and laugh at us.  I am disgusted with Melissa allowing this to continue and leaving us to the sick whims of these people.  Even more, I am disgusted that she has not taken the time to tell us what is going on since our last dear poster was deleted by "them"!

I am hanging around just to see if and when Melissa returns from whatever place she has gone to.  I would like to say that I think your petition is a good idea but not if you are sending it to Melissa.  Maybe if you agree to send it to "her" superior, I would sign it but not if it is wasted on her!    Thank you for caring enough to try, Althena.

Medigal .. we need to keep in mind that people are being deleted in other threads as well.  It happens across the board.  Topics get hot and posts get deleted.

Bren:  I know that this can happen in all discussion groups but our problem is not about "hot" topics, I assure you.  If it makes you feel better to ignore the real problem, so be it.  Have a nice day.

It has become an obvious attack on certain members.  This is not new.  And the people doing the deleting are not 'new'.  I have to agree that they are being allowed to get away with it.  They must be having quite a laugh.

Wow, Athena, you hit the nail right on the head. This is a big issue, that by deleting entire threads BCO enforces current consensus. When the Suzanne Somers thread was deleted it caused outrage and created the impression of censoring discussion of the book. That was a huge mistake and I suggest Melissa reinstate that thread.

{edited} Aside from the inherent unfairness of prohibiting debate, media people will jump on these censorings.

Hi Medigal ... I know that specific people are being targeted.  I was just pointing out that this problem of deleting is also in other threads.  I'm not ignoring the problem or making light of specific gals being targeted and stalked.  But it is not a new problem.  Over the years, many gals have been stalked on this site.  Members have had their place of business contacted, as well as their churches, etc. by stalkers.  Members have also changed their screen name in an effort not to be found.

I was trying to say that this is not a new problem.  It happens all across  the boards.  The stalkers can be banned, and have been, only to return under a different name/IPL.

If you have a satellite provider, the satellite roams, enabling lots of different IPLs for usage.  Or if you have cable, like I do, you are allowed 7 different email accounts, which makes it easy to log on under 7 different ID's.  There are just a lot of ways to get around the system .. if you really want to and are stalking a certain person.

No matter how you get on the internet, there are "free" email acounts available, so someone can open multiple accounts on a service like hotmail no matter how few addresses are available to them through their internet provider.

Bren and Patmom:  Thanks for the additional input.  I just thought Melissa had posted she was going to do some of the things we requested and now she seems to have disappeared.  The internet can be fantastic but it can be a field day for mentally unstable people who use it to stalk and hurt innocent posters.  I do hope we get some input from the Mods before long.

Thanks Patmom .. I completely forgot about all the free email providers out there.  So it seems the ability to get multiple screen names may be endless.  And with so many different IPs, you can go undetected with a variety of screen names.

Medigal .. hopefully we'll hear from Melissa again soon.  I'm sure she's aware of the problem.

Can someone here tell me how long the 5 posts a day restriction lasts after one has been "deleted by the community"? I had several posts deleted last week.

I thought the only way one can be restricted with days banned is if it says "deleted by Moderator".  I didn't think "deleted by community" brought a ban with it.  Maybe I have it backwards.  Anyway, if we just keep posting, what are they going to do about it anyway?  I think the entire thing going on with the deletions is a crock!
