Rosemary .. I'm quite brave speaking from my little computer chair! But truly if it came down to me or the other guy .. I'm certain my family would prefer I was left alive. The thought of an intruder in my home is terrifying, and with Tim on the road all the time, I have to 'feel' safe. As others have said, the best home defense is a dog or a shotgun.

Did anybody catch the Palin interview on Hannity last night?

I have to say that is the best I have seen Palin in any interview. Do you think she was fed the questions beforehand? Nevertheless, I still do not see her as the leader of the United States of America. Just MHO.
-
Seeing as she receives a paycheck from Fox, I'm pretty sure the questions were picked out and approved by Ms. Palin. Didn't watch it, but have seen a couple of clips on CNN. If she becomes President, I will become an illegal in Canada or Ireland!
-
PIP .. I watched the Hannity interview and the Anderson clip. Yes, Palin was quite sympathetic to those that were killed and injured. She remains, in my opinion, as defiant and outspoken as ever.
Bren
Edited: She hedged her bets though when asked if she took down the PAC ad. She said she thought that maybe one of the webmasters took it down. She wasn't sure about that. Pulleeeze .. of course she knew it was taken down. She also knew it was up long enough to take 'screen shots' of it .. those were her words.
Good press or bad press, she doesn't care as long as she is in the press! She will not "sit down and shut up."
-
I also noticed that she didn't argue that they were crosshairs on the map. However, when her interview was being discussed after, they still tried to convince people that they were surveyors marks.
-
Ladies, did you see Bob Beckel on Hannity after the shooting? Bob Beckel is a democrat through and through. I saw that show and Bob said he invented crosshairs. This is nothing new. Why do you STILL talk about this? This had not one thing to do with the shooting or the shooter. It was not Palin's fault, nor Hannity, nor Beck, nor Levin, nor Bachmann, nor Limbaugh....did I leave ANYONE out?
I thought Palin did an excellent job. No one HERE mentioned that she has had threats on her life, and worse yet, on her children's lives. Have any of you seen the HORRIBLE things said about her and her children? Do any of you ladies care how a woman is treated by the press or pundits? Did you care how she was hammered when it was announced that she was running for VP? Did you NOT think it was a bit unfair the way she was treated? And, how about all the lawsuits?
I don't get it.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the subject of crosshairs was brought up in the interview and that's what we're discussing. Blame Hannity for bringing it up, not us. I think the threats, etc. are horrible. I also think it's a shame you don't extend the same concern to Obama, his wife and children. Just because he doesn't talk about it, doesn't mean it's not happening. In this crazy world, those things come with the territory and if you can't handle it, you shouldn't get involved in politics. Doesn't mean it's fair or right, just the way it is. There are wingnuts on both sides and unfortunately they love to issue threats and to say really hurtful ugly things about politicians and their families. No one is immune.
-
Shirley: It's sad that you don't get it about Palin when you seem very concerned about your country. Are we supposed to get her special treatment because she is a woman? She knew what she was entering into when she got into politics and if she didn't then she is in "no" intelligent shape to be President of Bora Bora much less the US. I am not against a female President, I am just against a female who is no more fit, in my opinion to be President than she is to be many of the things she aspires to be. She aspires to be in the national spotlight and make tons of money. She is doing that but it is still not getting intelligent people to "respect" her! As for the things said about her and her children, she is the one who exploits her children to get them on camera any time she can. She has to pay the price for what she does and I guess she is getting what goes with the territory.
I do not like the fact that you seem to be making an issue of the fact that she is a "woman" and being treated like this. Any MAN who strived for what she is striving for and got as little respect as she gets, would have to take the same treatment. SEX has nothing to do with it! I can't believe you are trying to make this about her being a "woman". Maybe she should stick to fishing and hunting and leave woman who are intelligent enough to be leaders run for the positions she aspires to.
IF our citizens go so over the top they EVER vote her in as President, I would be so happy if I could join our previous poster in becoming an illegal in Canada, Ireland, or any place Palin wasn't making a mockery of by trying to run it! The Chinese will make chop suey out of her in a minute!
BTW, I was glad she got the hammering she deserved when she ran for VP. SHE was the reason we didn't vote for McCain. He blew it when he brought her in as his VP! THAT was a desperate act if I have ever seen one by a presidental candidate!
-
I do not condone anyone making threats against this president and family or any other POTUS. I do not hear ugly remarks coming from any news outlets about the Obama children and I do think they should never be "targets" of any criticism. They are innocent children brought into a situation about which they had no choice. If you think that these accusations against Palin, amongst others, is fine...what can I say? She has been trampled on since the first day the announcement came out. She gave a doggone great speech at the convention and that made some people very, very afraid.
-
Medigal, I respect your opinion. I know you dislike Palin very much. You have said it over and over. I guess I should not have brought her gender into this. Okay, let me put it to you like this. Do you think Obama was vetted like Palin by the MSM? Do you think Obama was ready to be president? Can you name one accomplishment in the Senate...loved a video on this. I can post it. It was during the primary....his supporter could not think of ONE accomplishment.
I'm just talking about fairness. I don't think Palin has been whining about her treatment. However, I'm sure she doesn't like her children being brought into crap. I have always said about ANY candidate....leave the children out of it! She had a teenager who got pregnant...I suppose that teenager was a fair target. I suppose her down syndrome child was fair target. I suppose the media making up crap about Palin's daughter birthing the child was a fair target.
Medigal, I really don't expect to make you like Palin. I'm not sure that it's her time to run for president...however, she is not dumb! The funny thing is, when I hear people say they want to leave the country if so-and-so is elected...I LMBO. Which movie star said they were leaving if Bush became president? He never left.
-
First of all, if you think the president's family should not be targets of criticism, does your disapproval extend to public web sites? Just wondering... Second, I never said that anything to do with criticism of Palin or her family was "fine". Please don't put words in my mouth. Third - she did give a good speech at the Repub. convention. Unfortunately for her, she didn't leave it at that.
-
BTW, you should blame McCain for choosing her, thus the reason you didn't vote for him. Are you happy with your vote? BTW, she wasn't running FOR president. And if you think Biden is great as VP.............................................
-
Have no fear - I absolutely blame McCain for choosing her. I will never feel the same way about him again. His choice showed to me that he didn't care nearly as much about this country and our future as he proclaimed.
-
When I heard Mccain had chosen a woman for his running mate I thought that was brilliant and that he would win the election. But I do not believe Palin was well pepared to run and I do not know if that was her fault or the fault of the campaign. Then she left her job as governor of Alaska. I think she would have done better running for VP if she had had more time as governor of Alaska or maybe a term in House or Senate. Now she's a reality tv star and political commentator on Fox. That certainly is a new way to gain a political following.
-
Yes, websites are fine when it comes to criticisms of both parties. Olbermann can spout all he wants..it's fine.....he's not a journalist...he's an entertainer. However, I can turn my channel. But when the NYTs or WaPo goes after a candidate with no facts and starts spouting off, it's wrong. Facts were not in and the conservatives were being blamed for the shooting and even the sheriff pointed fingers. That's horrifying. The hypocrisy gets to me.
Have you noticed that Obama is "changing" since the election? That's another story and I really don't want to get into it. I won't defend Palin again here on this site. I do think blaming her and others was extremely wrong. I believe the anger from the Nov. 2 election was coming out of the mouths of the ones who were very "disappointed." That's a nice way of putting it.

Here are some videos and facts people seem to have forgotten."Guess what? Faisal Shahzad is a registered Democrat. I wonder if his SUV had an Obama sticker on it." --Rush Limbaugh, lying about the failed Times Square car bomber, who is not registered to vote, May 4, 2010"She sounds like a screeching ex-wife." --Rush Limbaugh, on Sen. Hillary Clinton After a photo of a tired-looking Clinton appeared in The Drudge Report, Rush Limbaugh opined that ‘‘as you age—and . . . you know women are hardest hit on this . . . America loses interest in you.’’ Thus, the question for voters became: ‘‘Will this country want to actually watch a woman get older before their eyes on a daily basis?’’ (Limbaugh)In discussing how President Obama uses children to shield himself from criticism, I broke my own rule about leaving kids out of political debates. The children of public figures should be left on the sidelines. It was a stupid mistake and I apologize--and as a dad I should have known better.

Both sides have been nasty to each other. That does not make it right. You can have a heated debate and passionately state your position without name calling or mudslinging.
-
Okay now how about a new veggie? My son left some bok choy here and we sauteed it in some olive oil. It was pretty good but does anyone have any good recipes for it?
-
I stir fry it with a couple minced cloves of garlic, oilve oil, grated fresh ginger, low sodium soy sauce and sale/pepper. I might even throw in a little white wine if I have any.
-
I don't know what a bok choy is.
I thought Palin gave a great speech at the convention. I was impressed with her at the time. It seems that things just went downhill after that. I don't think she did her homework and she had problems with the way McCain was running his campaign.
Covert .. I never heard Hillary complain once about the awful comments made about her. She's a class act.

Bok choy is an Asian green, I think. Barbara your recipe sounds yummy.

Thanks Rosemary .. I thought it might be some kind of root.

Shirley: As with my pigs feet, I don't keep bringing them up unless someone else does. I feel the same way about Palin. You don't see me me starting off "I hate Palin" posts. I prefer not to ever think about her and her life. However when I see intelligent voters like yourself posting the stuff you recently posted, I just have to give my opinion. That is what life is all about. Being able to disagree about politics especially. Am I happy with my vote. NO! Indeed not! Obama was a "forced" vote for me and my family out of desperation of not having any body better. That does not say much about how we feel about him but I will explain something to you. A President has to face great dignitaries from all nations and "try" to get them to respect our nation and what it stands for. Obama's greatest talent "was" his ability to go before a camera and get you to believe he could do what he was preaching. He gave a great speach! He was likable! Unfortunately, he has turned out to be a great disappointment but so have many other Presidents before him.
I could not envision Palin facing great dignitaries and convincing them she knew what she was talking about when it came to economics, wars, etc. etc. It would be obvious the countries which don't give their women the freedom we do, would not want to debate problems with "her"! Even Hillary Clinton has her problems in her position and Hillary makes sure she educates herself before she takes on a head of a nation! It is also obvious that her position is having it's toil on Hillary.
I PREFER men in leadership positions for my nation!! Call me sexist. Call me old fashion but I won't even go to a woman DOCTOR! When I came to KY I got a female gyn for the first time in my life due to personal desperation with some male gyns. And I really do not like going to her! It's ok for women to run businesses and be in leadership postions for charities etc. Just keep them from running my country if they are like Palin!
-
but i will say one thing
i only go to women doctors unless i cant find one
-
My gyn is female and close to my age. I went to her when my male gyn blew off my menopause symptoms. She is the only doctor I have chosen because of gender-or age- and I am glad I go to her. Otherwise I try to choose one with the best skills and personality fit.
-
I choose a female with the best personality and skills
so far i'm alive
-
I love my doc .. she's young, thorough, smart and takes good care of me. She treats me as a whole person, not just one dimensional.
