Financial Help for Friend (In treatment & Pregnant)

Hi,

I'm writing on behalf of a friend who is in treatment right now after having surgery. She is pregnant and unemployed because she was diagnosed just as she began a new job. She's very concerned about the cost of medical expenses. Are there any charitable organizations that help with bills? She is a Latina female who lives in Texas.

You might want to try the Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening program in your area. If you contact your local health department they should be able to give you information.

I am so sorry to hear what your friend is going through. So many stressors at the same time. Does she have a computer? There is an online support site called Human Tribe Project (www.humantribeproject.com). She would create a blog, tell her story, journal as often as she wants to. You invite people to join the tribe and they are offered the option to purchase a tribe tag necklace with her initial engraved in it. The proceeds go to her medical expenses. This is a more long term solution, as it takes time to build a tribe. My friend's daughter has brain cancer and has almost 400 tribe members and has raised over $10K. Her tribe was created in September.
