When you are sick?

So what do you do when you are sick and in bed with cold-flu like symptoms.  I know I shouldn't wear the day sleeve but what about the night sleeve? I am having problems with my hand going numb.  Is it going to make me swell up again not wearing anything till I get a wee bit better.

I tried taking the compression part  off and wearing just the tribute sleeve but I am still waking up with numb hands.   Even my neourpathy is acting up.  I guess running a temp isn't helping.

Thanks.

    Thanks Faith.

I have reasoned with my self that yes my neuropathy would be worse since hot weather can make it worse.  So yes running a temp of 100.6 would make sense that my hands and feet are throbbing numb right now.  Going to leave the sleeve off till my temp comes down.

KittyDog, that makes sense. I'm just getting over a rotten stupid cold too, and I used my Solaris sleeves/gloves and vest, but if even the Solaris is bothering you, then just elevate your arm and stay really well hydrated. Chicken soup? Orange/lemon tea (Kira posted the recipe on another thread -- really does help!)? Plenty of water, anyhow.

    Get well soon!

Does elevating and MLD help you at times like this?

I am awake and still feel awful.  Temp is currently down. I am going to sit up today.  I don't think I can stand laying in bed any more.  I have been there since Friday.  My ribs hurt, my back hurts and my arms are killing me.  I would love to find the person who gave me this bug and strangle them.  :)  So far my arm is okay other than under the arm area feels a little full. Will get DH to glue my sleeve on in a little bit.  I am so disgusted.  I was suppose to meet at the PT's office tomorrow to get my new sleeve with the silicone border.sniff sniff sniff. She only had two appointments this weeks thanks to our snow and ice.

The fever theory is definitely true.  My hands get better every time I break my temp.  Weird.  Chemo...the gift that keeps on giving.

KittyDog -  Just FYI, I always sleep in my Tribute sleeve (including during  several nasty colds and one episode of shingles.)  It has the basic mitten hand which doesn't feel tight - but I usually wake up during the night to find my hand is completely numb (just numb - no throbbing or tingling.)  It comes back to life with a few finger wiggles.  Also, my hand&fingers often feel stiff when I take the Tribute off in the morning (they FEEL swollen- but they aren't.)  The numbness and the stiffness are more frequent the warmer I am.  Both used to worry me (and still can) but  after 3 yrs, they seem not to be the result of, or the cause of, any other problems.  I think they're just from my hand being partially immobilized inside the mitt.   Don't know if something similar could be going on for you but thought I'd mention it.  I'd say to "listen to your body" as best you can and do what feels right to you.

I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. I still think mine was coming from the fever. My tribute was sent back and now the sleeve and mitt are separate.  I still can't stand my hand to be covered up and they have ok'ed that.  Maybe I will be one of the lucky ones and my neuropathy get better in the next three years.

Going to the Dr. in the morning just because. lol  When I cough my chest hurts a lot in the area on the MX and  is also the area radiated.  I would rather feel secure than be sorry.
